Default Two Tigers, one big one small

Hey Guys,

Just a little something for your amusement. A while back I built a Tiger One in 1/48 scale (before I got into RC tanks) and now I've decided to do the same tank in 1/16th scale. Yeah, I'm bored.

[h=3]scale comparison, 1/16th to 1/48th[/h]Hope you find it amusing.

The original Tamiya 56010 had all of those markings on the decal sheet (I'm assuming the base 1/48 is Tamiya too). I'll check if I have any leftovers, my initial was a Das Reich Tiger for a few years before I converted it. I have a few of those 1/48 around, Armorscale barrels, Voyager PE sets, etc. They make a nice model as is evident by your work.

If I don't have the decals, maybe the sheet is still available through the AAF museum under parts. If not, another member may have a set since I've seen quite a lot of Tamiya Tigers over the years, but not many DR schemes. This was my rendition on a shirt, it was my biggest seller years ago:

Yeah, that's the Tamiya 1/48 kit. Finding the decals in 1/16th would be great, and now that I know they're out there I'll start looking. This won't be a tank you can count rivets on, but I'll try to get it as close as I can.

I'd email Natasha at the AAF Museum. They don't have photos online, but she'd take a look for you.

But I guarantee a few guys here have that sheet. I used the unit marker, Gremlin and 'S' but mixed up numbers not to be 33.

You could probably mask or stencil the gremlin and marker, but getting two parallel thin lines in the letters and numbers will take a serious effort. Probably best to find the decals, especially since Tamiya made them. Another option may be Archer, they have a line of transfers in 1/16, don't remember if they covered Das Reich.

See, this is why I need you guys to keep me on my toes. What was I thinking? I've already done this tank once, only smaller, and it was an out of the box build! If they made these decals in one scale they probably have them for every scale tiger ever made. Sooo ... Ebay!! They have a set for $6.50 plus $5 s/h so that might be the way to go. As far as I can find online the 56010 decals have all the markings for S33 in the summer of '43 at Kursk.

I don't understand this post. It almost seems as though you're mocking me, but that would make no sense so there must be another explanation. If you wanted to pique my curiosity it worked very well. So, gudbramble, maybe you should try again. That last transmission was garbled.

maxu52, do you need the decal sheet for the early T1 in 1/16 or 1/48? I went out to my parts box and found this sheet in 1/16 and it has the dancing devils so if you need this sheet I'll mail it to ya.

Hey Mike,

That's the best news I've had in quite a while. I sent you a PM with my info.
