I too am looking forward to seeing the 75 and how you end up mounting it. I've got the elmod and CSI already in my M-16 so I'm definitely going to keep an eye on your build for inspiration if I want to do the conversion to M3 down the road.

My hand has mostly healed. I get a few sharp pains deep inisde it now and then and there is a weired lump at the base of my palm that wasnt there before, its either a tendon bulging out of place or scar tissue. I still have a numb spot in the middle of my palm so if that doesnt come back, im gonna have to go back to the hand specialist. Other than that, everything works right and Im getting things done.
Thanks for asking.

As for the halftrack, I bought a good book on amazon that has some cut aways of the TD but i need better pictures to build the mount. Someone said they would get some for me in April, when they visit the moved Aberdeen museum.

Im definitely going to replace the bumper, i broke it by stepping on it after I set it down and wrapped my hand up and tripped and ran in the house to stop the bleeding from the chisel incident. The rest of the half track is fine, just the front two screw mounts cracked on the bumper. Very robust models these things are.

i have focused all my modeling on the M4A1 project right now, its almost finished. Im fitting a barc4 in it.

Glad you're getting better, Rich. I'm hoping you'll do some video soon so we can see how these halftracks run on the elmod. I'm seriously considering getting one, partly because I have two and the only way to use both at once will be to change the board in one of them, plus the range is really poor on these things. If you get 40 feet you're doing well. Right now the only hold up on the elmod is the $200 price tag. That's a lot of coin for a halftrack that doesn't have the quad .50s in it anymore.

I'm sure I saw someone say they had a quad .50 unit they aren't using but I can't remember who it was (darn hippie brain! Doh!) so if you see this send me a PM and let me know what you have in mind. If we can work a deal I wouldn't mind picking up another quad .50 unit, and maybe do the trailer version they pulled behind jeeps and trucks and what-not.

Thanks, Martin, that's very, very cool. I guess I'll have to put the elmod on the things to buy list.

What radio are you running on? How many channels do you need for the halftrack? I'm sure the 9X will run it, what about a plain 4 channel TX? And how was the installation of the elmod? Easy? Hard? I'm going to use your canvass cover set-up on mine so I suppose it will make hiding everything pretty easy. And the elmod halftrack board runs on 12 volts, right?

I thought Bob put one in your halftrack for you? Does it have engine sounds? It's a control board, like a clark or an IBU2, but elmod makes one for the M16 halftrack. That's what's in Martin's video.

Rich: I am glad to hear you are on the mend pal. I have another winch bumper your RC Halftrack or I can build you a front roller bumper.

MaxU52: I have the extra MG mount Max. I'll PM you.

Martin: Very cool pal.

That was on a DX5e, but any 4 channel radio will work. Trick is to get a small enough receiver that it will fit into one of the fuel tanks - Spektrum make some very compact soft case receivers.

The board replaces the original one, so its all plug an play. I put the rx in the right hand side fuel tank, and a compact panel speaker and volume knob in the left. The battle circuit sits in the gunners chair, that and the ribbon cable to the board are the only 2 bits that show once its all installed.

I don't know weather the board is capable of 12v operation, I would assume so? I run one of mine on an 8 cell transmitter style battery pack (8x 1.2v NiMH AAA cells) and the other on a 7.2v 2/3A duratrax pack. I didn't really think of it at the time, but I could have kept the original battery config and fitted 8x 1.2v NiMH AA's instead of the packs.

I was thinking of a BARC controller since I have been playing with them but it requires an rx18 as well, don't have that kind of space. So I will look into other controlers.

I decided to move the fuel tanks to the rear for the TD but haven't done it yet. I can then fudge the size a bit as necessary. Also, I got a NIMH battery and was going to gut the AA box and it will fit right into that.

The 75 mount has a box that the ammo rack is in, then the gun sits on top of that box. I can make the box out of paticard and use it to hide something in.

Still working out plans guys so stay tuned.

Rich, I'd recommend using a LiPo on this. Very small.

Hey Bob, I would love to buy a bumper roller from you. If it saves me time I am always willing to buy parts rather than fabricate them. Especially when somebody else has already engineered it.
Have you started using a mini pencil torch yet to fab them up?

It's really good to know you're working on this, Greg. Now when I get around to fixing the guns on the AA Bulldog I know who to run cryin' to when I have trouble.

Tales of my demise at the crushing Allied defeat in San Diego are greatly exaggerated.

Ive been back at work on my tank destroyer. Got the gun shield fabbed up and the gas tanks removed, as well as the interior frame ledge that goes around the inside of the box, I cut it out and reglued it to the top edge as in pictures I have of the TD half tracks.
Next I need to start to fab my gun mount.

I can do recoil, but I don't know if there is room for a rotation if I use elevation. Rotation is barely a few degrees side to side, so I am wondering if I should even bother to try for it. I think elevation is important though.

I have the 1/16 Torro Halftracks here in NJ. All tested and guaranteed to work perfectly. PM me for details or go to my website: http://www.rctankcommand.com/rc-half...-for-sale.html I also have many spare parts is stock but I will only sell the parts to my Halftrack customers.

Here are a few pix of the optional roller instead of the winch bumper.

.....and some video too.

I hand test and modify each halftrack to make sure you get a perfect model. I also make a video of every halftrack I upgrade and sell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHEoGdwOZnw This way you know it is perfect. The two figures are nicely detailed, well painted with very high quality. And add great value to the Halftrack package which is ready to run and includes a 5 channel transmitter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zC9roxoNjA

Ok, pulled this down off the shelf and did some more work to it. Im thinking of just using an ibu2 to drive one motor, steer right from the radio not through the ibu and set up the tamiya apple behind the gun shield really low for as much safety as I can get.

i dont have a good interior photo from the rear of the gun set up so I am using a half cut away drawing feom a half track book to design and build my gun mount. Im sort of flying blind a bit so bear with me as I cannot do the kind of work I usually do as far as accuracy is concerned. Also, getting a battery and apple in it is going to sort of stick out too.

i have built my gun sheild, modified the 3d printed cannon mount and am working on building the box that the mount sat on, which held the tubes of ammo.

i cut out the fuel tanks up front and even the floor around the speaker. Not sure if I went to far since the frame actually sticks up through the floor a bit and I didnt know that.

Any way, working along on it. Its been a year now and I still have a hard time looking at this thing, the center of my palm is still numb
