My vote is North African paint with the giant aircraft style roundel.

Well, I have been very hard at work designing and constructing the gun mount. I don't have plans with any measurements just photos from the net. I am trying to make it look as accurate as possible from the top. It also helps that now I have a photo from underneath the gun too. I now know how the mount sits and traverses. Huge help in understanding how to replicate that.
Here are some photos of my gun mount so far. Its not finished yet, some parts are taped together since I haven't installed any electrics into it yet and still need access into the gun mount for that.
Lots of planning, test fabricating and frustration have led to this point where I am satisfied I have done the best that I can do to replicate the appearance of the 75mm mounted in the half track.
Going forward, I may have to fudge the storage boxes in the floor in the back and make them longer than they should be to hide the IBU but that will come in two phases from where I am right now.

Nice job Rich! If I ever get around to finishing my TD half track I'm sure I'll steal some of your hard thought ideas. for the most part just have to come up with a gun shield/mount and
elevation/traverse then I'm good to go. Not as accurate as yours what so ever though.

If you do decide to do it, i can share all my research with you. If you do it this way, it will make sense and look realistic.

Ok so I installed my ibu and worked around it. I am going to have to make the storage bixes in the floor longer forward than the real T12 had just because the ibu is that long. Maybe the ibu3 will come out and allow me to retrofit if its smaller.
i have the gun mount mostly made now. It sits in place and looks preatty good. Man that was a ton of work making it all out of tubing telescoping sections and making tubing corners and pinned mount points.
I had a linear servo I was hoping to install in the channel under the gun barrel for my recoil but the ibu wont operate it on recoil. Yes i tested the linear unit on a regular rx channel and it works and I tested a different micro servo on the ibu recoil port, that works, so im stuck with trying to get a micro servo inside the gun mount to yank the barrel back. The rotation servo will go in the ammo box under the mount as maybe a speaker too. Elevation, well Im not sure yet. Thats important, more than traverse.
time and trial will tell. The rx is up under the hood. Im going to flip the ibu upside down and run the cables out all through the floor and to where they need to go, aslo going to probably mount the battery under the floor between the frame rails. Thinking of using A size nimh batteries to make a pack.

Going to have to cut out the windshield to allow for prototypical elevation drop. Probably will be the last phase of this project.

Rich, Hi.
The dimensions of the IBU2 are -105mm x 66mm x 25mm,

The dimensions of the IBU3 are -100mm x 62mm x 30mm,

I hope that helps.
Shaun.

Is the IBU3 out already? I noticed it has an empty slot on the IBU MFRs website.

Hey Rich, looking good. For recoil, have you thought about a servo board? Like the one they use in the airsoft recoil turrets? The IBU can run that (Ian has a video of how to hook it up), maybe that will operate the linear servo? Erik might have a servo board, and I don't think they're all that much, like less than 10 bucks. If you have space, that is. I imagine it's pretty tight in there. Just a thought.

Have you ever thought about trying a scout car? I just took apart a 1/18 M-16 halftrack and I'm gonna give it a go. I'll do the body and ship it off to Harley for the power train installation, using a 1/24 rock crawler as a donor.

Where is the video of the servo board operation?
i was sad when I figured out the ibu would not drive the linear servo i had planned to use.
