Default M26 vs Panther in Cologne

Hello fellow tankers, I received my 2nd HL M26 Pershing, I want to add extra stowage on it, like the one in the famous tank battle movie clip. It has a lot of extra gear on it any suggestions? I want to modify it as accurately as possible. My first M26 is a Marine one in service in Korea. I like the M26!

If you really want to be accurate, there's no such place as Cologne. It's Koln, with an umlat over the "O".

Yeah, I know I'm not politically correct in this. Another case of history being written by the victors. It's good that they've adapted to take advantage of the tourist money, but if you ask anyone that was born there where they were born I doubt they say Cologne, kind of like people that were born in Munchen (my keyboard doesn't have an umlaut/umlat(sp?), I never can keep that straight). I wonder if there's a Koln Tourist Department?

I thought it was just a translation thing.

Cologne in English = Koln in German.

German / Deutsch

London in English = Londres in French

I know, like I said I thought it was a language thing as Max had said "there's no such place as Cologne".

Kinda buggered if we all had to call place's by their native tongue - ain't got the keys for

Hey, sorry, guys, first, for going off topic and second for letting my pet peeve intrude on our forum. Definitely my bad, it just bugs me whenever I see the words Cologne or Munich, and sometimes I get a little carried away. I've got this thing about names and I always try to get them right because I think it's disrespectful not to. For example, if a guy is named James and always introduces himself as James I would never call him Jimmy. I also always do my best to pronounce names properly, just because I think it's the respectful thing to do. My other big one is when guys call my favorite fighter plane an "ME 109", as it's really a Bf109, for Bayerische flugzuegwerks (sp?). Again, sorry for going off topic, I'll try to keep a closer rein on the mouth from now on.

Max your computer has the capability of typing with unlauts you on the other hand may not, for instance ü press and hold the alt key and type 129 at the same time this will give you ü have a butchers on tinternet and you will find how to type umlauts.
In Germany Köln is always spelt and pronounced in this way but in English it’s always been Cologne the same with München – Munich it has nothing to do with victors writing history for instance Liège in Belgium is called Liage in English Luik in Dutch and Lüttich in German the two latter are signposted from Holland and Germany as Luik and Lüttich but once you cross the border it changes to Liège.

Back on track Strathcona, best thing to do is study the pictures this film was done in more than one take least ways of the Pershing the Panther and Sherman on the other hand was done in one take, the day after this incident the film crew re-enacted the event to show the Pershing in action but it would be the usual stuff such as bead rolls ammunition boxes ETC

I looked at a lot of clips of this, but I was wondering if you can be more specific? Do you have a particular photo or clip you want to make the M26 like? Maybe a link? I'm curious to see the effect you want to achieve.

Maybe like this? It is a Pershing from 3rd AD in Köln/Cologne. alt+0246 for unlat ö. I found the code!!! It is like in Pirates of the Caribbean, "Stick to the code mates!".

Maus, I’m glad you were able to find the code are you using windows.
The picture shows the Pershing with a canvas cover over the 50 cal the same footage also shows the Pershing without the canvas cover fitted.

Max-U52, I would like my Pershing to look similar to the one in the thumbnail in MAUS45's reply. I have gone on the internet and have found several pictures of this tank from different angles.

rivetcounter, do you have your piece of eight? According to the pirates code, as set forth by Morgan and Bartholomew, you must show me your piece of eight before I render the location of the "unlat codes"?!!! Ok, that is my stab at pirate humor. Yes, I am using Windows 7 and found the codes for unlat here......

This old thread from Torpedochief might help:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-t...s-panther.html

I'm pretty sure he went on to build one as well so a bit of searching might find pictures of that too.

As per the Stowage...

Try http://www.valuegeardetails.com/imag...120-1-Full.jpg

These were commissioned by the 1/16 scale tankers and they are fantastic for typical US stowage.
