The problem here is that, IBU, while a great board (my preferred) has some QC issues.
They are easier to install and set up than clark, and are more compatible with the tamiya apple base etc.
while I prefer the IBU over everything else, i have now seen a number of failed boards right out of the box, sad to say.
Maybe Ivanho in Italy needs to involved. Any bad product right out of the box is at the least the responsability of the manufacturer to replace.
As I build the San Diego tank club i have reccomended the ibu due to my experince with it but also the clark and tmamiya, its all a cost basis really but its reallly just ibu and clark if you want to convert an airsoft tank. I got to say, as different as the clark is, ive never seen one fail yet.

I'm sad to see, Jerry, that you won't be selling the rest of your stock but I totally understand your position. Your efforts to make the hobby better for all of us have caused me to have a great deal of respect for you. I hope you're always in the Hobby and I hope that we'll always have you here to consult because you have many many talents other than being an IBU salesperson
Well said Gary. I agree 100% Jerry, sorry this product has caused you this much of a headache. You are still tops in my book.

The more I think about this scenario with the boards we have purchased from Jerry, yes a distributor usually does handle warranty issues etc.
However as I said earlier, the MFR is still the top dog on responsibility for the warranty. This is more or less standard operating procedure in the rest of the retail world. Notice a lot of things you buy have a tag that says do not return to your place of purchase, contact the MFR warranty dept first.
I installed a water heater again the other day with such a label.

Jerry, since you are going out of business, maybe you could just tell customers that they need to follow up with IBU corporate for any warranty service.
That way you are not stuck with all the stock you have.

It is kind of odd that so many IBU boards have odd failures in them.

Ill be sending my unit back tomorrow or Monday, tecnico passed this back off to Ian the new supplier (after he had said he could not help). I had a few emails back and forth with ian, answered all his questions and he said it sounds like a bad CPU and gave me the shipping address.

interesting is both ian and tecnico said ALL of their defective or problematic boards were sold into the states. over 1500 units sold since the launch of the IBU2.

I wonder if it could be related to a X ray customs inspection or something similar. I dont know, Just an idea...

Me and rich were talking about that yesterday, I mean it could even be an electro magnet used somewhere to move the container(or can as we call them)..(if they are shipped in one) or even metal detectors in airports, there are many possibilities.

I apologize for being incommunicado or at best having spotty communications. It appears my ATT Uverse gateway has given up the ghost after 3 years service. ATT was here today to make it whole.

Phordman if you haven't already sent your unit off, send it to me and I'll replace it. I have to send off another one which I'm behind on.

The thoughts you guys floated has occurred to me as well. All the units were sent by Ivano to me via UPS. large boxes with individually packaged units in static proof bags as you see them. The micro sd cards were in their own carrier. I have no way of knowing what they were subjected to on the way over to me. If it was some sort of EM interference I would think they would all exhibit failures. Either way I wouldn't even know what to ask. I've had numerous rc devices and other devices sent from over seas but have yet to find any damaged by being electronically compromised. And why these, why not all electronics. While I can't discount any possibility I think it is remote. Perhaps at some point Ivano has the resources to analize these units to better make a determination as to what happened.

In the mean time I have removed all of these units from my web store and I'm in the process of shutting down my web store altogether.

I've had brief dialog with Ivano and I owe him information he requested.

I want to apologize again for distress these things have caused you guys. Hobbies are supposed to be a haven from real world stress and problems. Not so good is the haven is compromised. For me while I'm obviously not going to give up a 4 decades old hobby, my days as a vendor are done. I probably won't run out of IBUs I can use for the foreseeable future so I can build every tank or half track I've ever dreamed of.
And now I can return to my first love: 1/10 scale; without feeling guilty...

I know what I'll be giving friends for their birthdays and Christmas also...

Jerry
