Default Tools of the Trade...

Hey guys, I'm looking at repairing broken tracks by replacing links and bent pins. How do you guys drive out the pins? With a punch? If so what are you using? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any tips and tricks for assembly/service/etc... of our favourite hobby? (I mean RC Tanks... )

You can use another track pin to knock an old one out. Also body mount pins for r/c trucks/buggy's can be used. Couple taps with a hammer or back side of screwdriver should get it out. Sure lots of people use different methods. I use needle nose pliers to seat the knurled end of the pin back in. One nose on the pin end and one nose on the track.

Yea I actually have a very tiny punch I use myself, but as mentioned earlier the best bet (and most of the time fastest if you have the accessory kit hanging around) is just to use another pin and push it through. I just sanded down one of my punches very fine so it fits the smallest links and it works for all the tanks.

Take a spare pin and embed it in the handle of a small screw driver, instant RC tank tool. You don't need the full length exposed, just about half so you can push out enough to grab it.

Cool

Just make sure to identify the 'head' of the pin to know which direction to start pushing/tapping on. Not all pins are made the same.

Jarlith Hi, The advise everyone has given is good except there are some Tanks with enclosed Track pins,
So for my reassurance could you tell us what Tank it is and its Maker,
Thanks.
Shaun.
