Something interesting

Something interesting has been happening in the 1/10 scale world. I see more and more of these popping up
CROSS-RC.COM
1/10 scale military supply trucks,, more modern designs than not however , 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 variants have really
caught my eye... Finally something more than tanks.. I chalk this up to spillover from the huge interest in 1/10 scale crawlers
of which they are legion. Cool thing is accessories, a minority of which are applicable to 1/10 scale military, especially WWII vintage but they are plentiful and apparently growing...

I am in the process of building a tamiya king hauler and on another forum I was referred to them for their esc/sound system, which have been told is pretty decent

Jerry, gotta watch what the actual dimensions are. Don't just look at the scale, these clowns in china have no clue. The "1/12 and 1/10" scale from cross aren't far off from say a globe liner or king hauler. Have to remember you can do a lot of eye fooling with tire/wheel size and body height both scaling up and down. Cross is more 1/12 to 1/14 if you look at wheel base and such.

I'll have to dig up specs to see if any of these is even close to anything in real life.

I know they make a series declared as 1/12. The 1/10 scale stuff is larger. I have just ordered an HC6 and I assume it's a semi scale of an American-esque or some contemporary 6x6. wouldn't mind posting a review of it. At the price I'm not expecting perfection, just something to have fun with. I have some of the Amewi(??) 6x6 and 8x8 as well as the Capo 8x8. I got them mainly for the way they were executed. I read that the Capo was made under license from Tatra but I don't know if that is really true or not. Also not sure if the Amewi trucks are scale or not- again I liked their execution. All of this is the result of a wild streak to get something else for the ground besides tanks. I think after getting all these my thirst for military- like trucks is slaked... I even got an Axial SCX10 and a nice Unimog hardbody for it.. Jerry is 6 years old again...

I for one would like to hear your thoughts on the HC6. Looks very interesting.

Jerry, the Capo is night and day better than the cross with regards to the drive line, but cost will show you that. Cross stuff is nice especially at their price point and their unique cabs, was just hoping for a closer competitor to Axial for the price. Also have to remember all their rigs are set up to be crawler style suspension and ratio's. Yes, have fun and mess with it, looking forward to your thoughts and the final result.

Also if you haven't seen this, pretty nice for the price. ABS and well walled. Have one and looking for a chassis to put it on, maybe a trail finder2. Also a bed. They are saying it's 1/12.

Received my Cross HC6 a few days ago. It is actually a 1/12 scale truck but the axles are slightly larger than others I have for an SCX10. quite hefty metal.
So far the model is impressive, the central transmission was unexpectedly large and heavy with an aluminium case and steel gearing. I'll post some photos
later. I believe this will be a nice and different addition to the collection of anyone interested in 1/10 - 1/12 scale

Sorry for the late followup. Here are a few photos of the HC6. Again it advertised as a 1/12 scale truck but so far from a component standpoint
the parts are comparable with the other 1/10 scale trucks I have. Now the original vehicle upon which the inspiration for this model came may have been
ginormous so 1/12 equates to a 1/10 of anything else but I don't know that.
The running gear components are very well made and finished and quite heavy, The appear die cast aluminum but could be zinc which would explain the
weight of them. I'd have to test them to know for sure. I've been told all gears used are steel not zinc and by the physical size seem to be quite meaty.
The plastic molded parts are very well executed in a light grey plastic, possibly ABS but I'm not certain. From what I see all parts are quite well packaged and the
instruction manual well written. All in all I like what I see so far. When I take a break from my Panzer III work this will go to the top of my project list.
