Default Information Help Needed

Hello

I am doing a scratch build project in 1/16.. It uses some 1/16 tank parts that I need to know the sizes of. Can someone please tell me if a 1/16 Walker Tank and a Pershing Tank have the same Road Wheels and Main Sprocket and Idler Wheels and Tracks? From on line pictures they look like they are BUT I can`t be sure without in hand comparisons.
Also the transmission gear box, what is the shaft that drives the sprocket considered; Long or Short?

Finally:

1) What is the diameter of a Walker / Pershing Road Wheel and how thick are the pair?
2) What is the diameter of the drive shaft that goes to the sprocket?
3)) Could Walker tracks run on Pershing Tracks and vice versa?

Thanks for your help and Time.

George,

They use the same road wheels and return rollers. The tracks and sprockets are completely different however.
1) 42mm diameter, 24.5mm width.
2) 8mm nominally. HL drive shafts can be a fraction smaller, Taigen ones are a fraction larger for whatever reason. Both use the longer shaft gearboxes, same as the Panther, King Tiger, KV etc.
3) see above.

There was instructions with these things?!?
The center cap should come off the roadwheel to reveal a screw to remove the wheels from the axle, once the wheel is off you can access the screw for the swing arm. If you have to destroy the center cap, you should be able to get replacement ones from the likes of IMEX or Forgebear. Return wheels are pinned in place, you might be able to prise the 2 halves apart to access the pin, but you are probably better off just trying to press the pin out from the inside with some kind of dowel?
In sumary; prepare for the application of brute force, and not a little harsh language..

Good luck!

Thanks Ex Pat Tanker

Brute force and strong language sometime go together with scratch building, I think.

I am NOT sure though how to make the suspension assembly because I plan to buy the individual parts and put them together for this project.

Looking at part prices online, I'd suggest you'd be better off geting a few second hand chassis off of Ebay and striping them?

Check out Heng Long's store at AliExpress. You can get a complete lower Hull for just a few bucks. Definitely under $30, and I'm thinking closer to $20 each. If you need a link I can get one when I get home this afternoon.

Tankarmy.com in Australia might be worth a look. I have purchased from them in the past without any issues.

Ouch, I was wrong, but 40 bucks still isn't bad for the complete lower with suspension and roadwheels.

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...28e678c2MyFKqd

I don't know how much shipping will be, and it will most likely take two or three weeks to arrive, but this site has 3 pages just for the bulldog parts, and they have pretty much every Heng Long part that's available.

Hi
Thanks for the link. The ONLY problem I see is that those prices are in U.S funds and Iam in Canada, with the exchange and shipping and taxes == Wow!
Need to think about it more.

I'm not sure if this vendor will do you any good because they're in the States, but I would call Erik at imex and see if he's got a junk lower Hull that you can just pull the road wheels off of.

Hi Airbrushler

All I need is ALL the Wheels, Suspensions ALL parts that the tracks make contact with and what keeps the tracks on the "wheels" Don`t need the hull just want to see how the suspension and wheels are mounted to the hull and where exactly.

Just out of curiosity, Erik, you used to have your contact information in your signature and now it's gone. What happened there?

I had to take it down due to the spam that follows putting that info up. Battling the phones with simple things like "How do I drive the tank?" or "How do I bind?" was taking up too much time of the day. No one wants to read instructions anymore lol. That is the main reason. I still do the support myself (sometimes I let one of the new guys answer an email or two but only if I approve of the answer, I still like being in touch with people, it was just that the goofy questions that could be simply found out via the manual was taking up too much time. I have automated responses typed up now for about 90% of the questions we get so it allows me to do a bunch of other stuff in the background. With Xmas coming up soon it is going to start getting way too busy around here very quickly...

Hi
Had some luck BUT NOT complete, I need the following to finish my hunt, ALL Plastic:
1 -- HL Walker Track one side
2 -- HL Walker Road Wheels, caps and spare center hub caps
3 -- HL Walker Suspension and Heavy duty Springs
4 -- HL Pair Of Idlers
Detail pictures of how the road wheels and suspension and springs are attached to the hull. What size are the screws that are used?

IF anyone can help, willing to sell me the above parts, please let me know.
