Default Motor turn speed for tanks.

I just bought Taigen 5:1 gearboxes for my tiger 1. However they do not give me the performance that I want. I am this going to upgrade the motors so that these GBs can pull my tank over pretty much anything. I know that it is possible, but I do not know which motors to buy other than 380s. Any suggestions?

Just get the right gearboxes

https://www.taigentanks.com/taigen-parts/ele-gb/v2steel

You want 4:1. H/L. 48mm shaft

I know where to find the right gearboxes. I don't have the money to just buy 78 dollars in gearboxes though. I am going to find a way to make these work. What I need to know is the correct turn value for the motors in order to make these gearboxes work so if anyone makes the same mistake as me, then they would just have to buy different motors. What I should say is, I have 5:1 ratio GB, High Torque motor or High Speed.

Ok I found the motors I will be using. I will just desolder the leads from the old stock motors and resolver them on to the new motors. One question though, is the little resistor thing that is soldered to the stock motors, do I need that or can I get away without one?

Its for radio interference so you wont here the wine of the motors in your speaker sound output so yes

I got my new motors in. I just need to solder the connections. I noticed it has different resistor things. I do not know if it will be a problem but i am about to find out.

They're not resistors, they're capacitors to filter interference. They usually come in two types, one if yellow and the other is a kind of tan/brown wafer. You shouldn't have any trouble with them.

If you want better performance without the GB upgrade, Find a 2:1 combo motor GB on the output shaft of the motor.

It would have to be a pretty thin transmission on the end of the motor. The Tiger has a lot of room, but it is limited. And I believe there are budget considerations in play here. The best bet is just to put in 4:1 gearboxes and call it a day. The "4:1" gear boxes, in that tank, will take either the 380 or 390 Motors.

Post some photos of the inside of your tiger with the gearboxes and Motors that you're using right now. I just might be able to help you.

I fixed the tank finally however right is left and left is right! I tried to swap the plugs on the motherboard but that just made it go backwards instead of forwards! I just can't win! Any suggestions?

Try adjusting the servo reverse on your Transmitter for steering control .
Thanks

Are you talking about the trim? That was the first thing I tried. It only started happening today. I am using all stock Taigen parts.

Do you know how to tease the wires out of the jst plug? Kevin Grannum at rcta has a pretty good video on how to do that. Anyway, tease the wires out of each plug and swap them left for right. Plug them back in and if it still acts funny swap the motor plugs.

Post some photos of the inside of your tiger and what gearboxes and motors you're using, and I might be able to help you.

Ok so this is the first I have seen of your message Crius. I will try your suggestion. Last night, however, I noticed that I plugged the connections into the wrong ports. So actually, the polarity is messed up on the forward and backward. About your suggestion Crius. Wont swapping the wires on the JST plug make the wires then plug into the opposite charge ports (negative to positive, positive to negative) and wouldn't that be dangerous for the motherboard or motors?

These are brushed motors that are supposed to be neutrally timed which means they are designed to run both forward and backward at the same speed. Swapping the positive and negative wires on this type of brushed motor will just reverse the motor direction. It will not harm the electronics or the motor. Once again this applies to "brushed" motors, not "brushless". That's a whole other can of worms.

TM has covered your question about polarity on Motors, I still think you should post a photo of the inside of your tiger. Let's see what's in there. You might like what happens.

I will get the photos up after I finish school and yard work. It is a bit of a mess of wires because of where I put my motherboard.

Here's a link to his channel, but you'll have to hunt around. If you can't find it I can probably make a quick video, but probably not til tomorrow.

I went through at least 30 of his videos. Couldn't find anything. Do you remember if it was an older video?

Before you try that..... Most likely you just plugged the motors in backwards.
Swap the left and right motor plugs at the motherboard. If you plug the motors in backwards your forward and reverse will be flipped but the tank will still turn left and right correctly. Most likely you just plugged them in wrong. Give them a swap first before you swap the polarity in the plugs.

Not the Trim if your using after market TX and RX you can slide a switch that reverses the direction on each connection
