I would love a US or Russian Modern AFV also. After the engine deck on my 3D printed Armoured Models SU-152 conversion deformed in the Texas sun, I think I'm done with 3D printed kits unless I know for sure they won't melt.

PLA prints will melt. ABS will not, but they are far more difficult to print properly.

A centurion would be a great missing link....

But Haya is doing a centurion right?
Rather than two companies releasing the same thing, hope for something different.

Hell, I'd be happy if they'd just re-release the Sherman. I'm still kicking myself for not getting one when the museum had them. If the Soup Nazi were here he'd say, "No Easy 8 for YOU!!"

No crap. We all miss both the Sherman kits. I have two old non options sherman chassis in service that I at least upgraded to ball bearing wheels and modern transmissions.

I was glad to get their M-51 Super Sherman kit off ebay before they diapeared. Even if it is not the correct upper hull it will be easy to fix.

Oh, you can still get them on eBay, but they're going for anywhere between $2,500 and $3,000.

In fact, I just saw a full option Sherman kit on eBay for $2,849.95 plus $150 shipping from Japan. Little too steep for me. I guess I'll just keep crying.

For me the part that really sucks is that I don't even need the whole kit. All I really need is the lower with suspension, tracks, sprockets, etcetera. I can put in my own gear boxes and electronics, and I would use the taigen 76 mm upper Hull and turret.

It's the same thing that happened the last time Tamiya stopped making them, I recall early 1990s ? Beater 'computer' Shermans were selling for $800 then over night when Tamiya started production back up all those $800 beaters were right back down to $50 where they belonged... It may happen again. Just think how annoyed you'd be to spend nearly 3k on a model yesterday that today is worth 300.

It doesn't always happen or may never again but why take that chance. At least this time there are some options to Tamiya. I'm wondering
if Tamiya has suspended their 1/16 scale tank line to be able to revise it to be more competitive or if they've exited the market permanently
due to competition from China. No profit driven company would willingly leave a market that's profitable.

Jerry

That said I have a beater.... umm well used computer Sherman parts tank I'll let go of for 1500... All it needs are revised road wheel axles and tracks..
an easy fixerupper...

Gary, I was lucky and got one here in the states off ebay for $1000 shipped. I remember this same kit when it first came it was between $500 to $800 shipped.
Jerry is correct when he said, and I paraphrase, If you really want it buy it early don't wait and be disappointed later.

Well the new tool 1:35 static kit just announced by Tamiya is an M18 tank destroyer. Don't know if this is what sparked the new 1:16 RC tank rumours, but if they make it I will buy it!

You would think they would have to rework the size of the electronics as the Hellcat is not a very big vehicle. That is if they build it in 1/16th. I think it's a great choice though.

Probably just a bit smaller than a Sheridan right?
the new MFU is one piece.

Looks like the Hellcat is 3ft shorter than the Sheridan, but it is wider by a few inches and taller by like 1.5ft. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's not the Hellcat as I don't think they would try to tackle the open top issues. The tank would need to have the same IR and battle functions as all of their other tanks. All of that in an exposed turret would be hard sell I think.

Default M36B1 90mm IR Tank Destroyer.

Photos: Tamiya 1/16 WWII ETO US Army Sherman converted to a M36B1 90mm Tank Destroyer. Built for running reliability over historic suspension accuracy. When built, HL RC tanks were not yet released. Used Nick’s turret set. I’d buy and build a new Tamiya RC 1/16 Hellcat Kit, if it was ever released. John

Hellcat would be so great. And they already spend time and money for the research so maybe...

Nice m36 John. Cool build.
A helcat would likely sell quite well I suspect.
I still want Tamiya, and others to start making Cold War armor and continue with modern offerings. Think about a Bradley.
