I notice that the emitter is an LED. Is it an LED laser, or just an LED ? In other words does it shoot a beam that requires aiming, or is it sufficient just to point the gun in the general direction of the tank to get a hit like the VS tank IR system.

It is a standerd infrared LED, same as your remote for TV or DVD player. The spread (area of effect) has been documented on my web site:

Gotta say I find that information a bit disappointing. Since the performance of the emitter negates the need for a cool targeting system that I plan to build.

I guess I'll have to build my own battle system using an IR laser. I would also like to make it scale proportional as far as gun range is concerned.

Jeeze I'm going to have to enroll in a vocational tech college just so I can modify rc tanks
