Cutting with Thread

I wanted to thank TANKDUEL for sharing the secret to cutting holes in plastic. By simply pulling plain sewing thread back and forth through the hull on my Sherman tank, I was able to cut a perfect, thin line all the way around (even through the mock hinges) and remove the hatches in order to make them functional.
Try it......it is amazing. [sm=thumbup.gif] Now, I'm already thinking about opening other access points on my tanks.
Thanks, TANKDUEL!

This is too good to be true. I haven't cut one of the rear engine grates out of my Tiger because of the gap that it would create. I will have to try this on it.
Thanks Tankduel. WE should see about starting a sticky thread for tips like this.

ok , but whats the point ???? Are you going to use that tiny little hole? what are you going to fit down in there? I think your going to loose that little cover.

What's the point?!! [X(] Why, details my friend, details! I want my tank to be as realistic as possible. [sm=thumbup.gif]
As for what I will use it for, well I could locate the on/off switch in there or mount the torso of a tanker with the head sticking out. I might use it as an access port for the battery, in order to charge it.
I won't lose the covers because I intend to drill holes through the hinges and insert pins, in order to make the hatches functional......and equally important-aesthetically pleasing.
