Default Glencoe M-41

I ordered one of these to use in place of my Tamiya Pershing in next month's battle. The plan is to remove all of the Pershing electronics and gears etc. and install them into this model, so that I have something a bit different to fight with. I have no idea how to do anything like this, so it may be a waste of time and money, but I am still going to try.

I realize that I could have just bought one of the new HL Walker Bulldogs and converted it, but I like the thought of building the kit and I am pretty sure that this model will be somewhat more accurate....that is what I hope, anyway.

Here is where I found it in case you are interested in building a new model or making an RC tank conversion.

That is unfortunate, but thanks for the warning, Tom.

The description states that it is 1:15 scale. I just e-mailed the seller to have him check the description against the product, so if it turns out to be anything other than 1:15 scale I will get my money back before it is even shipped.

The description of 15th is right, I saw the same model in my local hobby store with 1/15th printed on the box, they were asking 40 dollars for it.

I do not know how accurate the actual scale is however. It will be a challange. I would suggest keeping the lower hull of the Pershing and replacing the upper hull and turret with the walker as a start.

Typing 'Glencoe M41' into Google and found this:

http://www.geocities.com/schmidtom/Glencoe/M41/

Seems while the box may say 1/15 it is closer to 1/20 as Tom stated. This one includes a size comparison to a 1/25 scale Centurion tank and a couple of Tamiya paint bottles.

Well, crap.....that's my last impulse buy for the year. It is exactly the opposite of what I thought I was getting, but the seller's description was on the mark as far as what the manufacturer put on the box, so I cannot complain.

Oh well, maybe I can make a decent model of it and just practice painting and weathering. [sm=angry.gif]

Thanks for the help!

The Dorking Tank Factory? [sm=lol.gif]

I would like to see what Jason makes of this kit. Hopefully he will leave the lighter fluid and/or sledgehammer out of the equation.

Thank you, Tankduel. [sm=tired.gif] Maybe you can also give me a nice papercut and pour alcohol in it.

Hopefully he will leave the lighter fluid and/or sledgehammer out of the equation.
From all of the information that I have read so far, don't bet the farm.

You should have consulted us before you dove in nose first. What were you thinking?!

The merits of the Glencoe M-41 Walker Bulldog were discussed when news of the Heng Long M-41 surfaced.

I don't like it. [&o]

By the time the tank had arrived, I was pretty much in the dumps from all of the negative information I had read, and the model did not make me feel any better. It is the same physical size as a 1:24 Abrams, so the plastic after market tracks for that tank fit the Walker Bulldog well (supplied tracks are a joke), but that is the only positive thing that I can say about this tank. [:-]

It was a simple build, althought there were pictures only (I kind of like to read the instructions, myself). The road wheels are made to pivot like an RC tank, but it had no springs so they just set flat on the table.....I'm not wasting money on springs trying to find some that will work.

The seams where the pieces come together look pretty bad, so I filled them, but it still feels like a waste of time. I broke several pieces trying to get it together and now I am disgusted with the whole thing. [:@] Needles to say, I would not recommend this tank to anyone for any reason.......no wonder it was discontinued. [sm=tired.gif]

On top of all of the other frustration, I ran out of the good paint and switched to another kind. MISTAKE!!! Now it is oily, too.

I'll talk more later, I'm going to find the hammer.

NOOOOO!

Not the Hammer! It actually looks pretty good! Seems like it would be fun to put guts in, and it seems to have possibilities! Don't kill it!

Unfortunately, at the expense of poor icecreamslick. [] I'm really sorry about all the ribbing and negative waves you got.
Maybe you can "salvage" it into a battlefield derelict?
