I wish they would release them with two stick radio controllers... but I do appreciate the "new" (more like one step closer to Tamiya) recoil action. Too bad they are 1/24 scale though.

???

Why do you prefer 1/24 over larger scale? I'm really curious to know why since I cannot think of any reasons to do so.

Well what's the one thing that makes scale models, miniatures, trains and rc toys so cool? Miniaturization. Smaller is neater, and more efficient.

It's like when I see these guys flying rc planes with 6-8 foot wingspans I'm thinking that this guy wants to fly real planes or something, why doesn't he just go to flight school, obviously he can afford it.

Ah that is pretty cool. Although I still can't bring myself to prefer 1/24 over 1/16 or bit larger scale, at least now I understand because I feel the same way toward those HUGE rc aircrafts.

I like the 1/8 scale because I can get my fingers into spaces that otherwise would be too tight. Smaller scales are cool too, just too small for my big hands.

This might be off topic, but I'm kinda curious regarding why models are scaled in 1/6, 1/16, 1/24, or 1/35 usually. Why not 1/10 or 1/20???

there are 1/7, 1/8, 1/10, 1/14, 1/18, 1/20 scales, some of them are not popular.

Tom, pls correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that 1/6 scale is the more popular of the larger scale tanks.

My only reservation with 1/6 (aside from the price) is that they're too heavy to lift. Even my 1/8 weighs somewhere around 70 lbs, so I've built a ramp to drive it onto/off of a workbench.

Check out RC Armory's web site www.rcarmory.com to get an idea of their product line in 1/8.

Cheers...

Don't think I ever came across a 1/7. I guess you can scale it to whatever scale you want but the more "standardized" you get, the more available support will be for it.

Unless of course you have your own machine shop, I'd stick to the more popular scales.

I drove 1/5 scale race cars for years, hydraulic brakes, different tire compunds, rain tires, tread tires, engines anywhere from 2hp up to a 4.5hp monster, speeds up to 60,65mph. There is nothing like a 1/5scale race, coming down the back straight at 60mph and stopping on a dime for the hairpin! I don't think I would ever go back to a smaller scale (except for tanks, of course).

Dave: That's how I feel about tanks -- once you taste the large(r) scale you won't want anything but.

Has anyone seen the peanut scale RC aircraft? In the Backyard Flier mags, and the like, they have these tiny (1/72, etc.) airplanes that are fully functional and can land in the palm of your hand. I love the feats of miniaturization in that scale but I also like the larger scales.

Seems like tanks greatly benefit from the larger scales, as they are, after all, heavy vehicles.
