Default Corny Panzer from Walmart.

Bought one of those Cheap 49.00, Panzer IV From Walmart the other day for a Nephew that will be Visiting soon. Got it Home and had to try it out. (did not want to give the Nephew something that did not work). Wow That little sucker is Fast. No Control and throws Tracks almost as fast as i put it on the Ground. So I went to work checking it out for a possable trip to the Dump or maybe finding a Fix. What I found is that if you remove two AA batteries and solder wire in there place, Reducing the Voltage. Its a whole different tank. Much slower but yet still has power. More controlable and I have yet to throw a Track. Its actually Kinda Fun. Just thought i would pass that info on for all you Guys that bought one and shelved it shortly after.

I've seen those - they have the Mark IV in Tenn and Louisiana from what I've seen. The scale is 1/18th and they don't look bad at all. However, it does show to me just how good a deal a $67 shipped S&S tiger I from HL truly is.

I Agree, But it was there I was weak, and broke down. The wife said I had two Tigers I might as well have a new Toy to play with.
Its actually been alot of fun. I was suprised. Nothing like Tamiya or HL and the others, But still fun.

Its RC and the turret moves, has sound, Gun fires and tank rolls back when it does. As for range i have not tested that yet but i know it is in Range at about 20 yds. Cost at walmart was $49.00.

I received one this past Christmas. It is what got me here!

It throws track, runs like a spotted ape, and sheds it's hull skirts all over the yard! Didn't like the way it looked when I got it, so I did a whole bunch of modifications to it. All the skirts were done from styrene, and the hull was reworked because, the final drive gears scraped the sides as well as the screw posts. I'm lucky it still runs! I tried the 4 battery thing myself and the only problem was it didn't run for very long. If only they made better tracks (ones where the center guides were on ALL the links), it wouldn't be too bad a tank. That is, with speed control, a suspension, and a whole new radio system!

BTW, there are more pics in my gallery and, OH, YEAh! Buy this one at your own risk!

30.00 Bucks, Not Bad. Hey its just fun. Not the best but something to tinker with. I think that for what it is and what it does, after the voltage is reduced its a fair deal for something different than the Normal choices. I might have to keep this one and get another for my Nephew. My Walmart only has two left. Another tan and Brown and a Green camo one.

I agree with the buy at own risk, However I got fairly lucky i guess. I have been running mine like crazy and still on the same Batteries. Everything seems to work fine. Oh Heck its just something different.

I run mine quite a bit, too. With 8 batteries, it will run forever! With the 4 batteries, it looks cool turning slower. I also reworked the 5th roadwheel back. On mine, both seemed out of line and lower than the others. It helped keep it from throwing track all the time, and released some of the track tension, too.

Tote, is yours like that (the 5th roadwheel)?

I bought one as well oh about 4 months ago.... I ran it inside my house for about 10 minutes ...threw the tracks a few times and then took it to our Tank Battle day and used it for what I intentionally bought it for.... a STATIC battle field display piece...[>:]
I shared it with other fellow tankers that day and then as soon as I got home I tossed the transmitter in the junk drawer, removed the batteries, cut the antenna off it and made it a permanent Static Battle Field Display Vehicle!
We usually have lots of half-tracks, tanks , jeeps, soldiers etc on our BattleField to add to the DIORAMA ...Makes Battles look so much cooler and the setting more busy.... Looks cool..

Capn, Ive got a road wheel on one side that is in line but lower than the rest. I'll have to give that a closer look, I like what you have done with your paint. I think i will shake up tome Rattle Cans.

Nemesis, Kinda had that in mind myself. Battle field relics are always needed. Since I am the only one around my erea That's into these tanks that I know of my poor wife takes pitty on me and comes outside to play with me She is a real trooper. We have a large back yard and she wants me to put in a Tank course.(I think its her way of getting that running stream and pond she wants HMMM) Oh well that works for me too.

Tote,

I actually liked it just the dark yellow, but decided to try a little camo. It had been a while since I painted an armor model.

When I sighted down the center of the road wheels, I noticed that 5th one wasn't lined up with the rest of them. I think they designed them to sit lower for pivot steering or something. The road wheels are secured with a friction pin and are very hard to remove! You either remove the pin, or remove the whole bogey piece!!!!! I ended up having to drill, pin, and glue one side because I broke the whole piece off. The other side just came right out.

The manufacturer is 21st Century Toys or Motorworks (which is the brand that Wal-Mart sells it as).

This is a great thread. I like hearing about the mods you all make to these rather inferior R/C tanks to make them better.

capn,
I see what you mean about the road wheels. I'll have to mess around with mine and try some different things. Like i said your camo looks great, Major improvement on the looks of this El Cheapo Tank. Im still just amazed at all that can be done to improve these cheap Toy's.

Harq,
Inferior....................................Thats a Big Yes

I had thought this thing might become a clearance item at some point since the store had the same 4 mark IVs for several months. I'd buy one at $25 I suppose.
