Default Progress on my new Tiger

Here are some pics of my Tiger that I finally got paint on. I still am waiting on decals. I would really like honest feed back on the "weathering" job I did. I know I didn't flip the mantel but I wasn't really looking for a perfect recreation. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appriciate them. This is the firts time I have ever tried something like this. I don't want to get the stickers on and have everyone think it looks terrible.
Thanks
Brock

Looks great! [8D]

Looks like you put some thought into the weathering. I like the way the exhaust looks, with the dark sooty color. Gun tube residue is well done! Overall, it also has that really dusty coating look to it!.

One thing you could do, in the same vein as the muzzle brake weathering, is to soot up the area around the turret exhaust fan on top. Depending on how long it has been fighting, build up around that area would look good. Both the German and U.S. had problems with high velocity ammunition propellant creating heavy smoke and fumes in the fighting compartments. I've seen photos of Tigers and Tiger IIs that have really heavy build up around the armored fan cover area. Of course, when it rains the soot streaks everywhere there is a path downward and it created streaks in places.

Awesome work!

First you said you were waiting on decals and then you mention something about getting the stickers on. I would definitely wait on some nice decals (water-slide type or dry transfer) as the cheapo stickers that come with the tank would hardly do any justice to your efforts on the tank's fine paint job. Just don't use them.

Only thing I would do is repaint the solid "rubber tires" on the road wheels. If you are depicting a hastily applied winter white-wash where the crew just slapped the paint on, the paint on the rubber would eventually wear away anyway.

I have to agree with pretty much everything CapnCrunch43 said. I also would really like to see some vertical streaks in the paint finish. We rarely get to see the effects of rain on people's tanks.

Regardless, you did a fine job on your first try.

Brock, nice effort. i wish you painted on tamiya rather than on Henglong, you waisted such nice paint job.
it is not the sticker that will ruin the tank. it is all mistake Henglong did on the tank, such as mantlet direction, gun berral length, orintation of the commander cupola. you did good job on changing the attena location.

for a good set of decals/transfers check out http://www.archertransfers.com/

These are dry transfers and you cannot use dull coat on them afterwards.
A light coat of matte spay will work.

TomZ another Danville battle day this weekend... sooner or later your going to have to come so we can all drool over your tanks in person .... as we shoot them.

Sorry , I misspoke, I did order water slide decals from archer, and thanks for the great advice, I will work on the rain effect,(not sure how though). I know its only a H/L but I just really enjoy the hobby for what it is. I think I would be to afraid to do what I did to a Tamiya. I hadn't thought about the solid rubber wheels, but thanks Harquebus, that should hep to ad some nice realism to it!
Thank you everyone and keep those comments commin!

James, thank you for your invitation. I miss Danvill so much. but just too far to drive now. I still remember the first time we beat "das reich".
Believe me, I really want to go, so I can test my fully converted RC Kubel and RC commander car. I used stronger motor to drive them since my rc jeep failed driving on the battle field.

good luck on this battle day.
