To save arguments can Tamiya owners only please post here.
What does the future hold for us 1/16th Tamiya enthuisiasts? Is Heng Long really stifling future Tamiya model issues? Are we going to be left with only new henglong models to choose from, like the Pan-Tiger, the Per-Dog and most probably a Tig-Zer and the like?
Your thoughts and comments, along with your Tamiya 'credentials' appreciated. Mine are in ,My signature.

Tamiya will never run out of people who are interested in their rc tanks.......more people show interest all the time. Plus, there will always be people like us who understand their value and will keep buying them. I just hope they release something new, soon. I'm starting to get the shakes.

The monster truck forum on Rcuniverse also had the same suggestion several years ago. It was decided to subset the monster truck forum into brands such as Associated, Traxxas and so on. This is a good idea. Organzing the tank forum into Tamiya, HenLong, WSN, Bandai and so on would information retrieval more efficient and communication a lot nicer. I'm definitely for it!

How do we submit this to a vote? Oh . . . your question, I almost forgot . . . let's just say I had to build an extra room to make the space to house them in . . . I've tried and truly enjoyed every type of rc. I used to make models for the toy industry (prototypes). Tanking has been, by leaps and bounds, the most enjoyable

Just incase I want to post later...
Tamiya M26 Pershing,
WSN T34 with Pershing gearboxes, speaker, MF and DMD
Current project Tamiya Sherman - as a Jumbo
Thinking about the M41 as a test bed for the aftermarket TBU compatiable systems coming out. Shoot BB's and IR
as well as geting a Leo 2A6, but if the next Tamiya Kit is a Panther .... well then I will get that FIRST

I spoke to Tamiya USA. Those guys are cool. My Pershing DMD had a glitch and they sent me a new one with absoluely no questions asked. I asked if it's true that a new tank would be released in the fall. They said they do listen to consumer requests and read the forums. The new tank will be either a T34, Panther, or Abrams. Man! I could be happy with any of those, especially the new sounds of the T34 or Abrams!!

I love the Panther, too. But I fear that Tamiya might use their recording of the Saumur King Tiger for their Panther. I know that the Panther and the King Tiger and the Tiger used, at one point or another, the same 650hp Maybach engine. But running and in operation, they don't sound the same. The sound effects IMO are probably the most important aspect of Tamiya's tanks. If they get a recording from a Panther along with it's Gun elevation and recoil, then sign me up, boys!!!

A lot of modelers have expressed an amazing passion for the Panther. What is it about the Panther that is so alluring. Please explain. I don't see the light

THQ ran a poll a few months back about what 1/16th tank hobbyists would like to see released the most. We had over 400 votes, it was IP screened so you could only vote once, the results were:
First Place=Panzer IV
2nd place= Panther
3rd Place=M1
4th Place=Cromwell

About the Panther ...
Haven't you heard the old saying, "You always want what isn't there".
Actually (and not starting a debut here) the Panther was judged many armor experts as the best tank in WWII. Not the most important, or what had the biggest impact (blah, blah, blah) but purely the best. That's only a couple of reasons why. That, and it's just cool looking!

Hi,
I own only a Sherman M4 (full function) now. The Sherman is my favorite tank.
In the past, I have owned the Sherman M4 (early DMD model), the original King Tiger and the Tiger I. Those are all sold now to make room for a 1/96 model of the HMS Edinburgh.
If it is true, that the next model is a Panther, then I will add another to battle the little Sherman.
I already have the WSN T-34/85.

]gulp, HL Tiger, thats acting as a bird feeder/squirrel outhouse right now, might refurbish same as a battlefield wreck like Jason's. I think I might wait awhile and see what exactly the big T is coming out with.

S.C.A.T. has run tanks at TAMIYACON every year for the last few year - see our website (shameless plug) www.socalareatankers.com. At the year's event some of the members spoke with Mr. Tamiya. We are hoping for an announcement around October......

See my profile / my models / my garage for my credentials, as if the website shouldn't be enough (wow - two shameless plugs in one post!)
