I couldn't stand it any longer, and had to order another tank. I bet the wife is going to REAL pleased this time (she's still not happy about the first one). It came down to four tanks, and I chose the Pershing. It was between the Pershing, the Walker Bulldog, the Panther, and a 1/6 scale Stuart. I went with the Pershing because of the better track design (I am having problems with my Tiger), and I wanted another "heavy" tank -- especially an American one. I already have modifications in mind for the Pershing. The Bulldog I would probably leave close to stock -- which is why I didn't buy it this time. I have some awesome ideas for the Panther. The Stuart, I'm not sure about -- I just want it because it's big. But I don't know how good a tank it is, it does use the unusal 12 V electronic system, and I'm not sure it would be as fun to operate. So, looks like I'm getting a Pershing!!! I ordered the tank from Hobbytron again with 2 day shipping, and I'm still getting it for less than 90 bucks. Unless someone beats me to it, this tank may be destined for my recently discussed "tiger-stripe" paint scheme.

My father got a HL Persing too! Very nice model. My father is also the owner of a Russian T 34 tank, a Panther, a Tiger 1, a Tiger 1 with smoke and engine sound. All HL tanks. Great stuff. I'll make some pictures of the tanks[sm=regular_smile.gif]

Cool. I'm dying to build a Tamiya tank and extensively modify the HLs, but they are just so cool and cheap, I keep wanting to order more of them. I want all of them, I'm just trying to figure out how to get more under the wife's radar. My little boy desparately wants one now, so I may kick the Tiger I down to him shortly, or order him a different one.

There's only 1 thing that was a little bit disappointing about the panther. The sizes doesn't match with the orriginal one. It is way to oversized in the broadside. And the wheels do not match with the real Panther.
But my dad already made very impressive modifications to it. He cutted the tank in half [X(] and made hin smaller and than glued him back togher. really amzing. Also the wheels are matching now. Removed sevral wheels and stuff.
...Wait till I got same shots of it.

M41s weren't deployed during the war either, it hasn't a combat record with US forces. That's not to say they were deployed there sometime after along the DMZ though.

The Panther is the most flawed and inaccurate Heng Long tank because it is derived from their Tiger I chassis.
You may have noticed that many jokingly refer to the Panther as a "PanTiger". Well the moniker fits. [&o]
Anyway, looking forward to seeing your pics of it.

I know the Panther is WAY off, but with a little work, I still think it would be cool. The Panther had a way more crucial role than the Tiger in WWII. So if you don't get the HL, the only other choices are the Tamiya 1/24th scale (which I can't even find on ebay), or converted the Academy 1/24th scale version (I wonder if it is the same as the Tamiya?).

I have a donated 1/25 Tamiya Panther, and two of the Academy ones, and they are identical to the point that you can swap any part between the kits without any notice apart from the odd 'pale-pink' of the Academy kit casting. Tracks, roadwheel, polycaps to hold the wheels on, hull chassis deck turret, the works.
I'd say either Academy bought Tamiya's old mold, or made their mold from a cast of Tamiya's kit. And at a MUCH lower price, its good fodder for 1/16 halftracks.
