They're good. Basically the same as Tokyo-Marui tanks but with another name slapped on. That is, they come from the same manufacturer in China.
I don't own one but have handled them and have read the numerous posts here about them and the consensus seems to agree that they are the best bang for your buck in 1/24 scale.
I'd suggest reading the back posts on them or doing a search for relevant subject matter using the search forum function at the bottom of the main page--should get you a lot of hits.
Only reason I don't have one of these tanks, and this is a good reason, is that I like the larger scale of 1/16 and they're just too small.

Oh yeah, which one do you like? I cannot choose for you but to say the scale details on the Leopard, M1A2 Abrams, Tiger I, etc. are spot on.
As for driving, they all should work well indoors but reportedly struggle a bit in rough terrain, tall grass, etc...

Tamiya and Heng Long for starters.
Best bang for your buck, should I say small bucks, is Heng Long by a long shot. And they're even coming out with that new Panzerkampfwagen III you may have read about in this forum. I'm excited.
But the HL tanks have problems, about 1 in 10 (at least those commented about here) or so have slight electrical problems, wires coming loose, etc. So if you're a hobbyist and don't fear taking them apart, they can be fixed/upgraded/made right.
Love mine. A Pershing ["Snow Leopard"]. Nary a fuss yet.

The HL tanks can be found on this forum for starters. I'd say that roughly 2/3rds of all posts here pertain to the Heng Long tanks, at least from time to time.
Otherwise, they can be found for sale all over the net like from this comparison shop site:

Heng Long makes a Tiger I, Panther, M26 Pershing or "Snow Leopard", M41 Walker Bulldog.
Videos (I recommend these all the time it seems):

Yep, thats a Hen Long 'Snow Leopard' aka the M26A3 Pershing. You can also find a dealer that sells upgraded versions on eBay and privately:

He does not charge quite as much, and many of us have dealt with him with mostly satisfied results (dunno of any merchant thats got a perfect sales record)
The 'Super' Versions he advertises have metal-geared gearboxes, better batteries and BB's, and you can select from his 'free parts' to get any spares you think you might want or need (like antennas if you have a habit of bending/loosing 'em)
There are a few reputable US sellers, but most do not carry the metal-gear versions, or the other upgrades like metal tracks, sprockets, and suspension arms.
