Newbie needs help fitting s/s upgrade
Hi everyone.
Could anyone please help me with my smoke and sound upgrade kit for my Heng Long Tigers (2) and Panther please?
I've recently bought two Heng Long Tigers and a Panther. Unfortunately I bought the basic models, not the S/S ones, so decided to try and upgrade them.
I've fitted all the parts to the tank and transmitter and everything works great except there's no control for rotating the turret or firing the bb gun. There is now a spare plug in the transmitter with nowhere to plug it in.
In case it helps, I got the parts from Asiatam and the kit included main and daughterboards for the tank, smoke unit, sound unit, replacement board for the transmitter and one new joystick contoller for the transmitter.
Thanks Guys.[&o]

Sounds like your wiring for the left controller stick is suspect as that is which controls the turret and gun. Check your connections at the controller itself and the board. There are no spare plugs, it's been awhile since I bought the old style upgrade kit but I don't remember a plug not being used.

Thanks for the advice. I've rechecked all the connections and they're o.k.
There definitely is a connector from the left-hand controller stick that has nowhere to go in the transmitter though.
All in all there are four connectors; the left hand control stick has one three pin connector and one five pin connector.
The right-hand stick has two three pin connectors.
On the new circuit-board there are only three sockets. One five pin and two three pin!!!
I've got my Tiger driving perfectly but not firing or turret turning.
Gawd! Wish I'd known about s/s tanks before I bought mine![&o]

What do you mean?
The left hand stick (right hand when looking from the back) should have two circluar switches with three wires coming off each.
I'll see if I can take a picture.

A piccy or two would be great. If posible could they show where the connectors go on the board?
Trouble is, the upgrade kit came without instructions, even though Asiatam's blurb seems to suggest it should. I therefore have no idea what the finished transmitter should look like. I'm not even sure whether the driving stick should be on the left or right when viewed from the front!
I know the tank installation is o.k. as there are dozens of piccy's available showing the interior. Just can't find any info about inside the Tx.

I think something is wrong here mate. There should be just THREE white plugs to connect to the board. two from one stick, and one from the other. The right stick has TWO 3 pin plugs, and the left has ONE 5 pin plug. You either swapped the wrong one out, OR they sent you the wrong stick in your pack dude.

Cheers for that info Martin.
I think I'm beginning to get somewhere.
Asiatam sent me ONE replacement stick but it seems I need TWO.
At the moment I have one stick with two 3 pin plugs coming from variable pots to control steering and that's fine.
The other stick has one 3 pin and one 5 pin plug. The 5 pin plug controls the left/right axis and the 3 pin plug controls the up/down axis.
Seems the two axis should be combined on one plug. Do you know if this is correct?
If it is I'll break out the multimeter and start investigating what each cable does and try a rewire job.
