Default Watts Up and Tachometers

I'm no electronics expert and wanted to ask you guys what you think of this device? Could we use it to measure the rpms at the motor shaft and gearbox spindle? I think this tool combined with the Watts Up meter, we should be able to get the most out of our drivetrains. What do y'all think?
