I am using aftermarket ESC's to control my WSN 1/16 T-34 tank. Currently, I have two available channels on my receiver/transmitter. Is there a way for me to hook up the headlight on the tank so that it would light up when I either turn on the tank or hit a toggle switch on the transmitter? There are two wires going to the headlight. I tried hooking those wires to an open channel on my receiver, but the light didn't turn on.

Hello mate, what about using a micro switch, somewhere in the sweep of a servo, or do you want to do it without using another servo?

I prefer to do it without using a servo, but I do have mini servos that came with the radio. It seems all I need to do is hooking up the wires to a power source.

[8D] Hiya, if you want to control the lights from a transmitter then I personaly would try and us a micro switch someway. However, as remote control of the lights is not important to me I use a simple toggle on/off switch on the Tank itself, thus saving the expense, weight of a servo and a radio channel. I never have enough channels! [sm=teeth_smile.gif] If I ever run out of channels, it might happen yet, I have seen some guys using a small single channel txrx unit available from Maplin electronics UK, they are like radio shack US I think, they are normally used to switch single items remotely like garage lights etc. but I haven't tried them myself yet. Do you have any other servos in use on the Tank at the moment? Like controlling the Turret or cannon? If you do, you could use the end of the "sweep" of a servo already in use to switch the lights on, and when you return, off... I am waiting/can't wait on a new Tamiya King Hauler to arrive for my latest project, 6x6 M35A2 1:12 trail truck in desert yellow. Also going to fit a driven front axle with mud terrain tyres all round and do the USMC M35A2 conversion to the body.

I was looking for a way to hook up the light so it would turn on when I turn the tank on. I believe I can hook up the light to the main power wires but may need to use resistors to reduce voltage going to the light. I'll keep on researching.

Hello mate, have a look at ebay item number 220072449341 This guy has lots of different set-ups available. I have used him a few times and his gear is really great! Plug straight in with it's own 9.6v battery, or your 7.2v, fairly cheap too! Going off to have a look at your website now, I love scale stuff!

Either of these two devices may make a good way of running headlights.

Thanks. The EasyLights won't work because I wanted to hook up the stock single light. The PicoSwitch won't work either because I'm not turning a device on or off. It will work if I hook up the light to some sort of motor and use it to turn on the motor.

It was my impression that the picoswitch is merely a switch. So you could use a channel to switch the light on. From what i read, and the provided diagrams, you can switch just about anything.
