Karma 99, really nice work on the N, but the 75mm howitzer looks funny without the recoil mechanism. That big protruding block from the mantlet is a dual spring recoil system, that cuts the recoil to 10-12 inches and saved lots of room inside the turret, but was bad news when that box got hit. .without it, that gun could not function and could recoil back into the turret ring. On the exhaust, I believe that was designed for the TauchausfĂĽrung, or snorkel river crossing models of the M.

Have to agree with the Mickey Maus in the late war years. They added and mounted anything that was available. Bad enough with the extremely complicated supply system that they couldn't get a proper road wheel or beraring to fit, with all the changes made from month to month. That's where all the heavy guns on 251 half tracks came about....mostly in Russia to replace unavailable tanks. I'm going to have to repaint some of my retrofits in Barbarosa theme camo colors.

Karma.

Pardon the off topic bounce, but, if you can help, please....

I went to www.myallbooks.com and tried the 'free downloads' on a couple of armor books. the files downloaded as **.rar.
Adobe doesn't recognize them, PKZip doesn't recognize them,, what the heck are .rar files and what do you use to open/read them?

Again, sorry to bounce off topic and thanks for any help.

.rar is a compresses file type similar to a zip. I used to have a free program that would open them but i cant remember what it was. Search .rar on google.

Hi 123Splat (great name btw!)
As TheBreed says, rar is a type of file compression (like a zip file)

Best thing to open them is WinRAR, from [link=http://www.win-rar.com/download.html]here[/link]
You can pay for it but if you don't mind the pop up reminder when you use it, I've been running the trial version for 3+ years!

Also the files that you get from myallbooks are password protected, and you need to type this into WinRAR when it asks you. The password is listed on the page where you start the download from - before it takes you round the houses in popup-ville!

Patton, to get just the head of the commander out the hatch, do you slice most of the upper body off? Would you mind posting a picture of your commanders out of the tanks? Thanks!
