Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help, I have almost finished my 1/16 King Tiger, but I have a couple of problems. One the main gun will not fire or the machine gun, even though they work in test mode, otherwise it works fine. Any ideas.
Many thanks

Hi,
If your using a standard RC AM or FM radio:
1. Important, remove both DMD units and receiver from the tank's metal hull.
2. Open your KT instructions (at the back) to "Trouble Shooting".
Reinitialize the DMD T-03 Unit to its pre-set condition with the Communications Cable detached from the tested and working MF-01 Unit per the instructions (note: the lights flash after you release the T-03 set button).
3. Up front in the instructions, now go to the the RC unit installation page and program the functions in steps 1 thru 6 (again the units should be outside and away from the metal hull).
Everything should work now.

Sounds like a trim/stick setting. Verify the trim is set before stick movement and stick is fast.
You can 'trick' the stick by stopping just short of full stick when programming elevation stick, that way the trim for firing will read positive.

the problem is the radio being used..I also had this problem and was solved with useing this radio "Futaba 4 VWD ATTACK 4ch am " just use this radio with any Tamiya Tank and you will never have a problem. This is what they use in their complete kit sets.

If you want your tanks to work problem free from the start just get this Radio..for $100 or so ...ya cant go wrong...and put the other one up on ebay and your all set.

I had this problem and completely resolved it by changing the plug ins to the receiver. Rather than the setup as in the instruction book, use this setp: plug 1-4, 4-1, 2-3, 3-2 and your problems will go away. I use a Futaba Skysport aircraft radio that I modified to remove the ratcheted left stick.
Here's some pics of my KT. I just addded the photo etched grilles and tha's all I'm doing to it.

Guys:
Its a 'mode' problem. Mode 1 and Mode 2 came about for aircraft fliers to swap the functions of the two up/down sticks to the opposite side. Many of the aircraft radios have a switch to change this, but these days they are all on 72 band, and not available to us.
Japanese surface radios are usually Mode 2 units, where US/Canadian units are usually Mode 1 units (like the Skysports) The exception is the 4VWD but thats an AM, the Skysports are FM.
To do a proper swap, you'd leave 2 and three on the same points, and only swap 1 & 4... but its all up to operator preference, right? Swap the plugs equals swapping which stick does what. Me, i prefer the throttle/steering on the right stick, turret controls on the left.
And in the DMD setup, it makes NO diff which order you operate the sticks. I've tried various orders, to no variation in the operation. Thick ~throw~ and end point adjustment DO have an effect though, as you can cheat and get gunfire at mx throws this way without messing with the trims.
