Hi everyone I`m new to these boards so its a quick intro from me!
I have a question i`d like to ask has anybody ever tried to cut up and extend then glue back an rc tank chassis? The reason being i`m thinking of doing just that to leopard 2 hull i have as i`m thinking of making a PZH2000 SPH and the chassis is a lengthened leo2 hull. Is it possible to do it, bearing in mind it will be a working hull so i`m thinking of the stresses involved.
any help is greatly appreciated!
many thanks in advance

Hi captainpalatine welcome to the forum
In regards to your question i cannot see why not as long as you strenghten the pieces with more plastic or better still metal bolted to each piece from behind. I know on some of the german forums that they have cut and chopped chassis up check out these links http://www.rc-panzerketten-forum.com...?threadid=2071 and http://www.rc-panzerketten-forum.com...?threadid=9856 and this one probably shows the best way http://www.rc-panzerketten-forum.com...?threadid=9109 watch the video at the bottom of the first page in the last link titled M88 Augsburg 2007 it shows how strong the chassis must be
Cheers Ian

Hi many thanks for the reply
i was thinking of using a combination of bolts/ glue and seeing as its abs plastic do you know in your experience what glue would be best i have access to MEK glues as well as evo stick multi-purpose impact adhesive would they be any good to bond each surface to each other before i put in the supports?
regards

I would use either JB plastic weld or any of the epoxy glues for the added strength just my opinion don't know if any one else wants to chip in

I would recommend physical bracing mechanically with bolts as this cut-up Leo hull for this custom conversion:

Mechnical connection is better than glue, as glue can break down over time.
