1 - Does anybody know what the cn1, cn2, and cn5 connections are for on the MF01 unit?
2 - Would it be possible to use a 6v 13a battery to run the drive motors using the T03 and MF01 units?
3 - If not would it be possible to connect "Y" cables to the receiver and split the control signal
between the T03 and separate ESC's?

cn1 = Tamiya Battle Unit
cn2 = LED Emitter
cn5 = unused ???

If not would it be possible to connect "Y" cables to the receiver and split the control signal between the T03 and separate ESC's? Yes, works good, you will sync the sound to the function.

I am using a Vantec RDFR22 ESC for the main drive(same drive as yours) and the Tamiya T03 and MF01 electronics for sounds,machine gun and main gun flash(no motors hooked up).I use a "y" connector to do this .
How does the tamiya handle the drive motors?Any problems? Is power/torque good?

Abt the battery, issue, I am a bit puzzled, wh would using a lower voltage battery cause damage to teh MF unit? my understanding is using a higher one might cause damage, but I have seen somewhere(don't know where) that they use 12V on teh MF and it still works.

Anyway I use a 2 cell lipo on my pershing and it works fine, a 2 cell lipo on full charge is 8.4V. i have been running on that since last year.

Well, I took the risk and tried the 6v battery and connected the dmd unit directly to the motors. I ran the system for 20 min. with no problems. Initially, I tried using the "Y" cable set-up with a separate mixer but for some reason the dmd "did not like it", it was behaving eratically. True, the test run was under no load. The SCR's didn't even get warm and there was plenty of torque. I tried a 5A fuse between the dmd and motor and it was blown, then a 10A and it was fine. As a precaution, I added an extra heat-sink to the SCR's on the dmd unit.
