Has anyone shopped at tankzone in the UK? or done a HL tiger-Strumtiger conversion with this kit? Just wanna see if it is worth justifying the Euro-USD standard. I hear the Strum tiger from Mattoro I think, is just not worth the money. Thanks Anthony

I bought my Sturmtiger kit from [link=http://www.backyardarmor.com/Imperial_Model_Sturmtiger_Conversion_Kit.htm]Back Yard Armor[/link] and it is worth the money!
Since you live in the USA it might be much cheaper ordering from them!

Hi AH64 I built the Imperial Sturmtiger conversion its a nice kit but like ArmChairGeneral said I would go for the Matorro and change out the gearboxes and electronics if i had to do it again. It won't let me upload pics so heres the link to pics of mine http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_62...tm.htm#6211164

Yours turned out great Ian, but I can see you put alot of work into the extras like the Zim. What was the quality of the kit? Was it the rough resin type or a better quality? The Matorro has been seen for about $89, it was $89 at Mato for a while but now its back up to $169 I think. Check auction sites for deals.

Hi Armchair the resin was smooth but very thick with all the resin and metal it moves like a real sturm Very slow

I sprung for the metal wheels from WECHOE and the smaller idler from BYA for mine. Still working on the camo.
The RTR is nice but you'll want to repaint it so it doesn't look like everyone else's. The Imperial Model kit is challenging and fun to build with a couple different gun weight's to pick from in the kit plus the bolt on armor plate for the lower front hull to add if you want.

I find that the electronics of the Matarro Sturmtiger aren't that bad. The odd battery pack sucks, but on the plus side, it seems to run quite a while on the charge. My Sturm doesn't suffer from lack of power either. The only bad thing about the electronics is that the setup is very touchy. You can drive the tank slowly, in different proportional speeds, but you have to have a steady hand. If not, the tank can be jerky because of its speed. It's not silly fast like the Ultimate Soldier Panzer IV, and it DOES have proportional control. I have put the metal tracks on mine, and it did slow it down some. So far I have had zero problems with breaking the plastic gears -- but I have no abused it either.

My major complaint is the range - its maybe 10 ft but I haven't opened it up yet so maybe mine has a loose antenna wire or something. I have the metal upgrade but it isn't on it yet, glad to hear it slows the thing down

I ordered the strumtiger kit from BYA today so I will see how it works out. I woundering about the roadwheel setup in the kit...the metal ones r what Iam going after the HL tiger road wheels are to wide I think. After all it is a Knock off of Tamiya but after full modifications you do come close to the price of a F/O Tamiya Kit.....

The first prototype Sturm did have the standard road wheels that the TI has.

Build it without a counter weight on the end of the barrel and you would have a unique tank and be correct!
