ORIGINAL: fv432

OMG yours is just like mine now she's dragging me off to the pub tonight so no tiger building and she's also dragging me down the pub tommorrow as well and they've got a big T.V. and we'll be their just when the rugger match is on oh darn it i'll just have to do as she says[&o][&o][&o][&o]

You lucky so and so.Mine doesn't drag me off to the boozer, drags me off to bloody B&Q,Focus or the like, and then whines when I don't fix what she's pestering for.

Whoever invented the DIY superstore should be stuffed with it.Very, very, very roughly.

Looks great! My wife steered clear of me the last few days when I was working on the tank. Or should I say the tank was working me over! You'd think the fleet was in port I was so mad!

FV432 outstanding work we must shop in the same chains the angle i bet its from B&Q and i have 2 boxes of those springs from maplin love that spring idea on the suspension ive seen a spring adjuster for tensioner on panzerkitten forum and those bearings at the front are they 16mmx8mmx5mm if so got some coming tomorrow collecting all the stuff for mine is taking a bit longer than i thought still should be able to make some sort of start this weekend ive got all the bearings for gearbox except the one above which i need first because everything comes from drive shaft backwards going to make the gearbox with an extra 3.5:1 with speed 400 7.2v motors that should give me tons of torque and about scale speed if ive got it right im in two mind wether to make my own suspension arms or buy a set if the boss gives me some more spending money keep up the good work and keep this post up there bump it when you have done a bit more . all you other guys when the boss takes you to the d.i.y. store do what i do fill the trolly with stuff to do your tanks and when she says whats that stuff for tell her its for this or that the jobs she wants doing.

best regards pete

nice one pete you are correct on the angle and yes those are the bearings you have in the post
mine have a flange on them to

like the shopping trolley bit not thought of that one

just get yourself a set of metal upgrade suspension arms and put the old ones inboard for the new springs

Regards Rob

Rob it looks like we are going very similar direction with the mods to suspension with the bearings and inboard springs plus stiffening of the chassis looking forward to seeing more of your mods as im just starting and yours is way ahead of mine still looking for motors im leaning towards speed400 motors but dont no which ones 6v or 7.2v maybe some one will post and say which ones have the most torque.

regaeds pete

Hi brel the track tensioner is from a tamiya tiger via the blueslatesman on Evil-BAY
and it fits after removing material from inside the original H/LONG idler housing as it's an offset affair all i did was replace the plastic with brass bushes and fitted (although still not got a good adjustment set-up yet[&o][&o][&o])

any more info just ask away

ROB

Rob, It's funny how that goes, sometime you sit and build and no one bothers you, other times you can't sit for five minutes without someone or something pulling you way[&o]

Gary

Your build is looking great.

I haven't been here long obviously, but looking at the pictures, other than a couple of the road wheels, it would appear that with your design, torsion bar suspension could be used, depending on the internal arrangement of the other components.

Kind of curious why you went the round spring route instead of torsion. I know my OLD Tamiya Leopard uses torsion, set up very similar to how yours is.

had thought of torsion bars
but the h/long arm layout is different to tamiya and if i put torsion bars on they would only have been half length [:'(]
but decided to go this route as i had a lot of spare's to use LOL

971wright is trying the torsion bar route but it will involve a lot of work to relocate the arms so they are offset to each other as the h/longs are directly opposite check out his build it is awesome

regards Rob

Ahh, got it now.

I always disliked the lack of symmetry in the Tamiya suspension, but understood why they needed to do so. No reason for it in the HL setup I guess!
