Default Panther commander

I took the standard Heng Long commander, removed his head and added a head from another 1/18 scale figure I had purchased. The headphones are built using brass wire, with CA glue and baking soda.

So don't throw away all those heng long commanders. Just behead them and transplant a new mug.

I would have used Verlinden's heads in 1/16th scale. They have a set of 6 heads. The cap on the figure is sitting way too high on the head the sweat band of the cap should be about mid way between the eyebrows and the hair line. but nice painting

The Tamiya and Verlinden 1/16 – 120mm figures are inexpensive and cool to work with.

pcomm1 your last figure is he an SS officer or a Heer officer? If SS the cap is a Heer cap and the shoulderstraps are for a private, if a Heer officer the collar tabs are for SS and still shoulderstraps are for a private. But have to say your painting figures is top notch excellent face details look lifelike

Thanks. Couldn't tell what was going on with the Tamiya mold lines so I just faked it. Old eyes.

the 3rd pic is right on excellent. Cap details, piping, collar patches, shoulderboards are right on the money they could be just a lighter shade of pink but could just be the lighting though.... great job

I love working with Tamiya and Dragon figures--they're so easy to "chop and change"....! I haven't tried cutting up and seriously modifying a Verlinden figure yet, though.

(By the way, if you get the Tamiya 1/16 "Machine Gun Loader" he comes with about 95% of the individual parts needed to assemble a complete Lafette MG Tripod: there's an interior brace you have to make, but it's still a heck of a "kit bonus"! )

Upload some photos of what your finished figure work looks like, so we can all see what your both talking about, or do either of you attempt to paint figures?

Well It's great to see such great work on the tanks being done the attention to detail etc. I have been a collector of german militaria for so many years now and then I got into re-enacting and really learned alot about uniform headgear etc. But what I would like to say is if you spend alot of time on re-searching a vehicle and building/modifying the vehilcle shame to stick a figure on the vehicle that doesn't match time period or branch. I guess it all comes down to how far you want to go. Be like takeing an old masters painting like Rembrant and putting a Walmart Special Frame on it. .... I know being criticle here but but it is just contructive critisizm I'm offerring

Pzrwest....Is there no piping around the lapels???.

I don't mind the constructive criticism. Uhu has taught me a lot about german armour, and Pzrwest is teaching me alot about the uniforms.

Pzrwest you should do a little summary on german tanker uniforms. Period, piping, caps, etc. We could then get Richard to post it to the sticky thread. I for one would love to be able to use this as a reference as I add tankers to my tanks. I agree, if the info was at our finger tips, most guys would use it. The trouble is, without the spending time it is pretty hard to find a bunch of this info.

I do enjoy the critiques (half the reason to post), but your words would be better supported with visuals.

Most of the uniform data is lost within books long out of print and at over 60 years out it isn't that easy to find illustrate reference, let alone "good", accurate, illustrative Axis uniform reference.

A post giving an outline of popular panzerwear would be helpful
