Default RE: Easy Antenna Modification

On reading the article on P1 on this thread and having already moved the antenna to scale position on a vaguely flexible mount so it can lay down and pop back up as the gun traverses (did the 360 deg' traverse mod already), Think I will play safe and paint the top half of my antenna sky blue

ORIGINAL: pzrwest

At the beginning of this thread you can see where I mounted my antenna coil in my pzr3 and it works great, In my HL tigers I have mounted them horizontally on the flat section at the rear opposite side to the speaker, and vertically on either side of the rear bulkhead and still get 100yrd range. Of course I do live in a smal village with no industrial or commercial buisnesses. There are no local sources of interferrances. Range tests were done by line of sight with no trees buildings etc blocking my view of the tanks.
I did use the same position you sated in the 1st page for my antenna the 1sttime ard and i got the worst range of all my test from that position(less than 10 ft) Last night I decided to connect my 1/8th waveleght wire(138.125cm) to the mock antenna(about 4inch or so of conducting material) I did not subtract the difference form the wire coil. but after attaching it, my range went up to 15ft or so. I got a feelingthatthe antenna of MY tank does not like to be kept inside the hull.

I will try the 1/4 wavelength(276.25cm) if i find that 15ft of range is not enuff.
