Default This Sherman's Finished

I think that I'm about finished with this Sherman, finally received the last parts (Gun Travel Lock, Tow Cable and Periscope covers) had to order from ETO and got them in one week,(and cheaper) have been waiting for the same parts from BYA, but after this long I have now given up on Back Yard Armor (they never returned any E-mails and now I'm trying to get a refund but they don't want to talk to me[sm=punching.gif]) never again BYA[:@]

Tracks still need to be weathered but here are some pics of it from before weathering to now.

I'm looking at picking up a Tamiya King Tiger next, It's all your fault Armchairgeneral( That's what I'm using on the wife anyway )

Put some mud over that star, makes a nice aiming point for my 88! Great looking tank, love the rust around the differential cover bolts!

looks great but you might want to cover or somehow camo those Alice packs...didn't have 105 Shermans in Vietnam. Why the "spare" cal 50? The bracket on the rear was for temp stowage. Tank looks sharp. Nice job.,

Looks great I wish I could weather my Tanks. I can paint real well but weathering is not one of my strong points. If it were me though I would stain the wooden beam on the front and scuff it up some looks to new on a tank made to look used. Oh and if you get the Tamiya King Tiger full option you are gonna love it !!! It will make the sherman look like a 1/30 scale

Thanks, fellow tankers

pattoncommander, the Alice packs I only put there to fill in an empty area, will find something better for that area, and the spare 50cal comes with the Sherman kit and I had to put it there until I found a better place for it. The markings are suppose to be South Pacific theater, does it look right?

Swathdiver, I'm to fast to be hit with your 88s and yes the stars are going to be darkened, I had mud or dirt all over them and adding the last three parts I rubbed it off by handling it, after I think it has all the dirt and blackening I will spray the dull coat to lock it all in.

Took it out for a night run with the lights on tonight and it was cool, the main (105) gun lights up the area when fired and looks great.

I do like the Tamiya Sherman and its quality, but I can take the Pershing or the Panzer III out and other then the sound quality of the Sherman, the people that watch them can't tell the difference, When I tell them the cost of the Sherman with the extras I put on it, they look at me like I'm nuts But what the heck, It's less then I can spend on the Harley

Need some Ideas for a Tamiya King Tiger, I have only started looking for a far price on one so far and it looks like Tower Hobbies might be just as cheap as Hong Kong prices and can get it in three days out of Reno[X(]

ah64, your right that wood does look to new, I only blackened it and it needs to be wrecked, thanks, when you look at it in the pics you can see things in a better way. The best materials I've found is the Rust All kit out of San Francisco, Ca It's at most hobbie shops I think and used by model railroad guys, easy to do, comes with rust, blackening a very fine dirt and a dull coat, the more you add of the black and rust the better it gets, easy to control, after you throw some of there fine dirt on and seal it in.

I know you're fast but from 1500 meters my turret traverse can keep up with you! I'd only worry if you were within 400 meters with 4 other Shermans, from out here we got the hatches open and Brats on the grill!

New mod Idea

Your tank with three or four germans standing around with brats on a stick grilling off the heat of a tank

Nice job. I have been saying for awhile now that this will be my next tank purchase. The more I see of these the more I want one.

Thanks for sharing your work on the forum.

YHR, fv432, kurtmeyer.
Thanks for your comments.

YHR, I not sure if it was you but I think you said you are not into the task of building the Tamiya Tanks. But if you do buy the Sherman I really think it may change your mind,(I hope) They are well done and parts fit together like they should, and there are a LOTS of parts I enjoyed the heck out of building the sherman, and then once built it's very easy to mod. the plasic they use cuts and drills much easier then the HLs. The cost is not what I'd like to pay so for now the Sherman and the (future) King Tiger is my limit. I say this now, but will not swear to it.(I hope my wife does not read this)

fv432, I'll be watching to see both your tanks finished, don't rush, but get to work.

she's read it already mate and is stood in the kitchen with her rolling pin in one hand and your sherman in the other and is waving the pin in a strange manner back and forth over the sherman
P.s will do on my projects hope to get the tiger running soon (so long as the rear idler plays ball should receive my new parts in the morning) going to set the sky on fire tonight with £100s worth of pyrotechnics

Well done Sherman, I enjoyed my Sherman alot too, i think its a great kit and worth what you can get one for these days ~$400. The suspension is the best I have seen on a RC tank.
