RE: Progress on my M4A1E8 Sherman Build
While watching football last night I felt compelled to work more on the Sherman. On my first M4, I rushed right through the build process to complete it in time for my first battle, so no attempt at any detailing or weathing was made. Pretty much the same was done with the following builds too. Now that battling isn't a priority anymore, I want to take them to the next level. I thought the commanders hatch always looked bare to me so I added to the periscope into what Nick had already offered by using some reference pictures from the M4 Walk Around book. So, the two hull hatches had to be done at the same time.
There is still some final sanding and painting left to be done but it does give you an idea.
I also placed the flash unit into the main gun assembly too.

Very nice, Panther F
Nice thing about these Tanks is they're a model that is never completely finished, when you have the pics and idea's from all the different forum's to look at.

Hi,
With backyard armor not making their easy eight kit and model masters out of business is there anyone making an T-23 turret, 76mm, mantlet, and muzzle brake to convert the tamiya 1/16 sherman?
Thank you,
Andy

The light colored turret in the pictures above is Nicks turret. It does come with the split loaders hatch, so if you want the oval version you will have to modify it.

Great! Thank you for the information. I will email Nick.
Does Nick provide the 76mm barrel and muzzle brake?
Again, many thanks!

A little more work on the Sherman.
I really needed to get this piece finished, painted and installed so the upper hull can be fitted

Looks awesome.
Hey, someone on another forum is looking for miniature wing nuts. I see that you have some tiny ones. What size are they and where did you get them from?

I bought mine from manheader on ebay but you can also find them herehttp://www.etoarmour.com/product_det...roductID=ZUH18 Ibelieve manheader sells them separately.
I don't know where the rest of thewing nuts are (to measure)but I did grind mine down to make them smaller.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
Last night Ifabricated the crank for the R975 C4 radial engine.
Just need to install it and build the holder for the barrel cleaning rods next.

Making the last push to complete this build adding the barrel cleaning rods to the underneath side of the now folding shelf.
Dusted off the lower half to install my Daryl Turner Sherman idlers. Cleaned off the over-spray of paint and greased the bearings ... pretty simple but dust-proof idlers to keep all dirt and gravel out.
More later! Gotta make room for the Panther I have already started on.
