See?
Thats the kind of innovation ya get when ya let your mind wander a bit. I'd chop the barrel back about 50%, add an odd brake to it, and mebbe some kind of hatch and/or visors to the armored top.
Kinda reminds me of the Dragon Sd.Kfz. 250 w/ PzB. 41 AT unit (dismountable) on it.
Hmmm, means many of the other 1/35 armored vehicke decks/turrets would fit too, I guess... hoboy I just got a LOT of wild ideas... Thanks The_Stuff.

I'd stick with the 251 and do a tarp out of tissue/CA-superglue. A 1/35 SU-100 upper hull on top of a 1/18 halftrack just looks..... dicky

The Stuff, it would be a ******* child, but a cool one, and you could fit everything in easier! I would just like to see how you will intergrate everthing, that would be half the fun!

well i like the idea of making a tissue tarp. also like the idea of a barrel break. gimme a couple days to work on it.
wolf, there is a hatch top and stuff in the kit, just gotta put it on for the front part there. I plan to cut it off after the "stug" part. Guess the biggest reason i picked this kit is cause of the lines. it kinda goes with the flatness of the 1/2 track.
what do you guys think of going russian captured? buddy of mine seems dead hard on me doing it that way.. but he hates the germans so that might be why...

I am only going to use this much of the top
then where the black is I'm thinking the cargo top or something like previously stated.

If you're going to be removing/handling the removable top, the tissue-tarp may be too fragile. I'd suggest trying to find some super cheap (aka thin) cotton hankerchiefs (aka nose-rags) I dug out a few I was given years ago and were useless, and threaded thin wire down the hems... insta-tarp. Whoops, pulled the wires, dyed it, and re-threaded 'em.
Now if you don't want the hassle of coloring it, go look in a Michaels craft store. They have bandannas in all colors, 12" square, and often in various camo patterns as well as solid colors.
Or if the SO is tossing 'em out, a thin old pillowcase or sheet cut up makes a perfect tarp. The acrylic paints from the dollor store craft section, when thinned with water, stiffen it up just enough that it seels like scale canvas.
I thought mine up after seeing the duffel & rolled tarp kit from Build-a-Rama.

If doing a Russian capture make something that exhisted not some dreamed up thing. The barrel looks to be in scale about 3.7 cm gun if that.

Hey stuff,
I hope you continue on with your Idea,it kind of gives the forum a breath of fresh air.Seems like me and you have been a few of the only one's with the guts to go beyond building something that is different and of our own design so to speak. Why does everybuild have to relicate some factual tank somewhere in the past.I would hate to think of a world where everyone thought along those lines. Most of the builds on here is the same thing over and over and over.Even most of the tanks being done here on the forum have evolved from some strange looking predasessor's.If every time someone takes on a build that is outside the so called (normal WWII tank)they are going to go elsewhere and the forum and it's member's will be the looser. Some on here just can't stand to see something being done in a way contrary to what they think it should be done or how they would do it.I have had some fun on here building tanks, hummer's,and even a jeep.Mabe some of the rivit counters on here should realize that people on here buy tanks for all kinds of reason's for fun and injoyment. If some on here had it like they think it should be they would find a very dead forum.
I know for me I have been pondering the Idea weither to buy more tanks,(bigger scale model)or bag the whole tank thing and move on to another hobby.I know for me in the last 11 months or so I have bought more than 20 tanks and misc-vehicles,I like to work on them and offer any help I can to others.we have had a few guys on here buy a couple of tanks and all of a sudden think they are the tank gu-ru's of the world.Don't kill your forum, make it grow. Just my own opinion-----BIGMIG

I just think to come so far and then wander off into fantasy land is a waste. It's like that guy with the Tamiya Sherman and Pershing, painted them.... well IMHO.... [link=http://www.dansdata.com/images/pershing/compare560.jpg]spastic[/link].
I mean my whole take on the modelling world is to take a toy, whatever, and make it look more like its real-life counterpart. Sort of an miniature ode to the beasts of yesteryear. Maybe its because I come from a modelling background, learning all the do's and dont's, whats right and wrong. I damn-right love making things look real - Not stuffing huge rims on an M8 Greyhound, a huge red/yellow umbrella, replace the gun with a hand-wound confetti-shooter, frilly lace around the outside, paint it fluoro orange cuz it looks "neat" - I hate to see waste...
End of rant

Well a good thing would be to look at different varients of the half track and go from that.
Go to this link it gives a list of the different varients then choose one you like then do a google search for that varient

Seriously, You could make a frame and cover using some light cloth or heavy paper. I used some scrap wrapping paper that had an almost cloth like texture and thickness. I built the frame using some strip styrene and notched it so that it would fit onto the inside handrails. The speed control is mounted under the floor to conceal it and give me more room inside for the battery. I initially used a 6 volt lead acid battery but have since replaced it with LiPo's.

I think I would rather go into battle in the one the stuff is building. Some times you have to use what you can dig-up to build a vehicle of your own design.Ever try to take a block of plastic and carve a nice looking gun out of it.The stuff's idea is not some wierd looking
far out machine,it would look like a working war machine if done right and painted.Sometimes you have to over look the scale thing,
and still have a good looking final product. The scale and accuracy people need to remember they are just a portion of the people with tanks.I also like to see the accurate models built and painted as well as the next guy and respect the work and detail in the job,but all the other's ask is to receive the same respect for what they like and build. BIGMIG
P.S. Don't tell us how we should be building our's,Go buy some and show us how you are building your's.Keep the forum alive---

BIGMIG, I too don't mind building some projects a little out of the norm. Here's an example. This is my Command car with 3" suspension lift and Rough Country Suspension. I built this using a Kyosho Mini Z Overland chassis and electronics. The electronics have been upgraded with stacked FET's and I ditched the stock Kyosho motor for a Tamiya Hi Torque unit. I replaced the magnets in the Tamiya motor with Neodymium ones which are super strong. With fully charged 4.8 volt AAA batteries it will shoot a 6-8" rooster tail out the back and dig itself up to the axles in soft sand. On hard packed dirt it runs strong and will climb slight inclines. I haven't tried 7.4 volt Lipo's but I'll bet that it would run like a scalded dog. It is only 2 wheel drive but that is all that the Overland came with at the time. I chose this chassis because of the suspension travel. They now make an AWD chassis but only for on road without the far travel suspension.
I've tried posting the pics twice but the connection has timed out both times so i don't know if they went through. If not I will try again.

That's pretty cool Nick. I have one of those sitting on the shelf and can just imagine it being R/C'd now!

BIGMIG, the first picture is with all the electronics installed. The board was able to fit behind the rear seat which fits snug into the well but can be removed. The canvas cover also comes off so that i can access the power switch.
Your welcome,
Nick

ya see i like how that is done. but i wont have an inside to show off. infact I was thinking of using the engine bay doors as a "command" spot for plugging it in and on/off etc.
