I can seem to find one. Any ideas where to buy them? I think I heard they were backordered. If so any idea when Tamiya will make them again?
I have two tanks that need them.

They're in short supply right now. I saw a guy respond this issue on another tank forum. He has a hobby shop and had 2 TBU's in stock as of this morning for about $90 ea. I'm not affiliated with him, but just trying to help you out. Pm me if you want his contact info.

If you don't mind a little soldering a DBU cost $15.00 and is compatible with the tamiya DMD system, other then the plug, but the wiring diagram cover this.
Just another option

I probably can solder what is needed. Where to you find info on the DBU?

He runs his own server and sometimes it is down(Runs it in a spare bedroom, and when guests are over he shut's it down). So sometimes it seems like a dead link. The majority of the time it is up and running though. Very clear pictures and descriptions of what you need to do, and you should be able to tell if you can handle it. If not the Blitz65 is offering assembled kits.

If you already have the apple, then just get the base to plug it in.

Yikes. I have tamiya tanks. It appears these DBUs may not be compatible. Back to looking for the TBU.

They are compatible in the fact that the can record hits and take damage the same. However the TBU uses one IR sensor with a mirror array to sense, the DBU uses four IR sensors. Apparently they work well together though.

I am building a DBU with a 9 din connector it will come standard with my kits and built kits! If you are interested for the test results and possible future option instead of the tall imposing TBU, you can use a low profile DBU or even intergrate it into the design of the turret, PM or e-mail me if interested
