I am looking at different remote and i am not sure which to get for the tanks. It is stated that i need a 4 channel remote which i understand why, turret, gun barrel, left and right track function. now if i want to add other functions ie machine gun moverment or maybe animated tank commander (saw on a movie of a tiger that had one and was thinking about doing that IF there is room in the tank for the equipment) do i need to get say a 6 channel remote to do these functions due to needing more servos? again any and all information will be greatly appriciated.

another question
what would i all need? which servos should i get? do i need to get a reciver as well as the transmitter? I know these questions seem basic but R/C is a new realm for me and i dont want to get something that i can't or should not use.

Fear not!! Unless you order the part separately, 99% of radios all come as a system when you purchase them. Meaning that they will include the transmitter, receiver, usually 2 or 4 servos, receiver/transmitter batteries, charger, etc!

so if i get a 6 channel system, and it comes with only 2 servos, i would just have to buy 4 additional servos and ill be good to go?

The Tamiya tanks don't use servo's for the drive, turret, or gun functions. The 4 Rx servo wires plug into the Tamiya electronics.
In my Tiger I I am replacing the Tamiya gun elevation mechanism with a servo. The digital/programable radios let you assign special functions to the 5th or 6th channels - machine / main gun firing.

ERIK,
AS KSOC POINTED OUT and to also clarify....
IF YOU ARE RUNNING THE TAMIYA TANKS STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS you only need a 4 channel radio.... I run ALL my Tamiya Tanks past and present on the reliable Futaba 4 channel radio on surface frequencies listed here:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=LXEFJ4**&P=ML
Surface: 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89 and 90
You use the trim tabs to activate the machine gun and to fire the main gun... IT is all plug and play with the TAMIYA BRAND... IT IS EASY.. No worries... and we are all here to support you and encourage you through your assembly!!!!
I was stating the yes it normally comes with 4 servos ( I use them in my R/C WARBIRDS) ... So later if you wanted to use them for something custom you could...but they are NOT NEEDED for a stock full function TAMIYA TANK!

I like to purchase a radio for each tank I own just so I can use all the tanks at once or share with friends...
Some prefer not to share (somewhat understandable) or prefer to have only one radio to keep track of and will use the same radio for several tanks and just buy additional receivers for each tank on the same channel #
Since the radios are right at $100 when using the monthly coupon ... It is worth it to me to have the independence to have all my tanks running if needed/wanted ...........

I'm currently in the process of building my Tamiya panther G. I'm at the stage where I need to be getting the tansmitterr for it. Does the above stated trans. come with the reciever? and is it standard for all models to come with one. Does this model plug directly into the DMD unit in my Tamiya. Thanks for the help. PG.

Panther G,
Yes... THE RADIO I posted above from FUTABA does come with a transmitter, receiver, (4) Servos that you wont use and can resell or donate to someone, as well as a battery for the receiver that you also won't use!
The electronics that come with the TAMIYA TANKS are made to plug right into FUTABA RADIOS.. Infact you can plug them into any modern radio system!
THANKS for asking,
NEMESIS4U !
