I have come across the opportunity to pick up a WSN T34 off of a friend pretty cheap.
I was just wondering though guys if the IR system in these tanks is compatible with say the Tamiya or any other IR system, or do they only work with other WSN tanks?

vs other WSN tanks only (aka non-Tamiya compatible). The IR system is very inaccurate, don't expect much (tanks hitting each other facing different directions, no decent sun shades etc...)

The wsn system is neither accurate nor high quality - but it is cheap and cheerful, and the vehicles are easily convertable to HL or even Tamiya electronics.
Ive got the Tiger (much better late-tiger accuracy than the HL) and the T34, and they're great fun to play with the kids with - just dont expect a serious competition-standard IR system from them.
They'll do nicely for a bit of fun though, til I get round to ungrading them.
If the T34's cheap enough Id definitely buy it

Thanks for the heads up guys,
Yeah i'm gonna grab it -
It's the snow scheme one and looks friggin sweet and he only wants $60AUD for it. He doesnt like the T/34 much, it was a gift from his uncle who bought the twin pack for the Tiger.
As you say - i can look at upgrades later as well.

Just be careful, they aren't very rugged (as HL or even the original non-IR T34) and I've had reports of transistors blowing for the drive motors very easily.

I have the Tiger and the T34 and would certainly recommend them as fun purchases. It's true that the IR system is wildly inaccurate, but that relieves one of the tiresome responsibility of having to aim and adds an interesting arbitrary element to the proceedings. However, although mine are still functioning, their construction is indeed rather delicate.

To tell you the truth Wackywheelz - if i payed normal price for one of these i might be a little more worried
I also noticed you have a T34/85 in your sig, is this one you have modded yourself?

Yes, but mine is the original (non-IR) WSN T-34/85 which was released a few years ago and is now Out of Production. I had mine apart on day #2 and switched it to Heng Long S&S internals (RX14) as featured in [link=http://members.iinet.net.au/~wackywheelz/]my guides[/link]. Apart from extra features it will give the stock gearboxes a longer lifespan since it's not getting belted by the 1-speed WSN electronics (now 10-speed proportional)
