Tamiya tiger 1 build

Hi People a short note on some of the small mods I have added to my Tamiya Tiger 1. First I put flanged bearings ( 8mm center hole ) in to suport the drive shafts. This I hope will alleviate the usual gearbox problems that Tamiya can suffer. Second I added 3 to 1 reduction gearboxes to get more torque. These I got from evilbay ( Hong Kong ) and are intended for reducing prop speed on electric planes. All I did was get the 3 pinions supplied with the gearbox drilled out to 4mm to fit the output shaft. this gives you a choice of how much you want to reduce final drive RPM The drive pinion is 2.3mm with a grub screw fitted so it will fit a standard 380 motor. Just remember not to overtighten the grub screws on the drilled out pinions as there is not much meat left after enlarging the mounting holes I also had to enlarge the mounting holes on the Tamiya gearbox to allow some adjustment for the 3 to 1 gearboxes. Last of all I removed about 25mm of thread from the bottom of the rear idler mounting screw. I then used an uprated spring from a Panzer III damper unit to hold down the track adjuster block at it's lowest point ( this extends the rear idler arm to it's furthest point ). A washer under the top locknut holds it in place place. This allows about 8mm of deflection on the rear idler. I hope this helps stop the rear track throwing and the need for constant adjusting. Hope the attached pictures show what I am talking about. All the best for now
