Hi guys!
Does anyone know of (or have) a good review, with pics, of this tank. From what I've seen it looks great as a model, but there seems to be a lot of negativity regarding sound, quality, electronics etc. Someone here even said it was the worst tank they ever bought [&:]
So what's the definitive dirt on these things? Are they worth it?
[Yes I did search the form...or try to. We need a dedicated RC tank search, we really do...]

Hi, I have both the original and the new ambush camo king tigers. The new camo seems to be much improved over the orginal. The motors seem to have more power the tank is faster. The sound is also much better. Whenever I take one out for a drive I always take the new one.

I would love to see the difference (if any, apart from paint) with the old and the newer camo.
Overall theyre not a bad tank, a lot of the negativity was upon release, when the prices were sky-high for what you got, but now prices are a little better they're alright.

Oh, and there is a dedicated RC Tank search option, its at the bottom of the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_369/tt.htm]RC Tank[/link] forum page, just above the Google logo (Search this forum)
Using Google to search RCU is the other option, but that searches the whole of RCU, so the above option is better and dead-easy to find... [8D]

It's worse overall.
Basically you get a slightly better looking tank (with some corrections made), but the under the bonnet it's not as sturdy/rugged and suffers from no direct-fit upgrades (compared to HL and its huge aftermarket upgrade parts market). Also with Matorro you only ever get a 1500mah battery and super slow charger (yep, slower than HL's 400 and 500mah beauties)

Can be made good with a lot of work on the drivetrain/gearboxes
From what i've seen
Just depends what outlay you want to put in
Probably better with a Tammy KT IMHO[&:][&:]

I really like the new color scheme of the KT and the model over all is begging to be modified but they have improved the electronics from the early shipments for sure!
This one is going to a customer and I believe it will be battling in the Bay Area next month at BAT,,opps I hope this wasn't a surprise attack piece of Armor???

I had the first version of the Matorro KT. It worked just as advertised, and I even drove it around grass, mud, etc with no problems.
I was quite happy with it, actually. But the one thing I can't get over is the fact that the suspension is waaay too low. The only time I've seen Kingtigers that had suspension that low was when it had a suspension failure due to a massive explosion. [:'(] It just ruined the aesthetic look of the tank for me. I mean...it can't be a King Tiger, when it's the same height as a regular Tiger.
Anyone else figured out what those two holes on the rear upper deck is for?

I usually just go by war-time photos of King Tigers, and by the technical data about them, which said that it's supposed to be taller than the Tiger or Panther.
When I first saw the Matorro King Tiger pics, I did note that the suspension is low, but it's nothing too obvious. It only became blatantly obvious when I put it side by side with my Tiger and Panther.
But other than that, plus the ugly bulge in the front, it's a good looking model. With a little work, it could look like a museum piece. I really love the way they did that zimmerit job!
As for the electronics inside, I'm just happy that everything works out of the box.

The ambush pattern while not realistic, looks great! It blends in well with the surrounding terrain you've chosen for the photos. The real ambush pattern had hard edges and sharply contrasting colors, it really stuck out and allowed the Allies to quickly dispatch them!

Hey James, that surounding terrain is hat my new place had I didn't really choose it per say, I did think it was cool that it is right on for the new King Tigers I am getting or for anyone who lives in a low land woooded or swamp area!
YHR, I would imagine that these new boards willl hold up good, being that the motors and are smaller and you they use the Fets that don't need the heatsink!
