Doubt it, the weight and motor size will likely kill them quick, theyre only designed for med-light 1/16 tanks.
There are plenty of regular RC type parts to suit, with mixers etc... you have an aftermarket radio set dont you ?

I'm wondering if the HL S&S electronics will run a 1/6th scale Stuart tank? Has anyone tried this setup?

Is your question will the HL boards handle the original stock motors and gearboxes in the Stuart.??? Don't have an answer
for you on that but if I was to make a guess I think you may have problems trying that. (just a guess). Mabe Darkith,DAP,or a couple other's on the forum may be able to give you some good info on this.I think this would be a big load on any of the HL components,as you know these are pretty big tanks and they are heavy. And also congradulations on getting one of these great tanks. Hi
They won't work - at least for very long. I had a look at doing this but they just will not take the strain. There are a few ways of doing other conversions that keep the sound board but put in proper ESCs etc and I am currently in process of fitting the electrics from a FO Tamiya Pershing which will handle the power. I bought a complete pershing off the place we are not meant to mention and am currently stripping it for the electrics. Once done I will sell off the hull, running gear and other bits to somebody who wants to build a static or stick HL electrics in it which will get some of the money I spent on the tank back - hopefully
If you go over to the Stuart Boards on Yahoo there is quite a lot there on this conversion along with the other one mentioned previously in the thread by 971wright. They are a helpful bunch and really into the M5s
cheers

Thanks for the info it was just a thought, and you never know till you ask. I take it that the Stuart isn't porportional on the speed just one ahead and one reverse am I correct? Next question, what is the sound like start up and running etc.

Hi
Yes, only one speed forward and one back. The sound is not too bad to be honest but I have experienced some annoying glitches with it. I have three of these and two have the same problem (the other is still new in box in the loft). When you push both sticks forward at the same time - the engine sound sort of distorts. Push one fractionally before the other and the sound is fine. It revs up and gives an impressive roar and idles down when you stop. When using the sound board piggy backed off proper ESC it sounds fine though. There were some threads a while ago about doing this conversion that were very well written and explained.
cheers

They're pretty fun in the snow, but pretty boring on grass. Especially in stock form. I bought both of mine in 2004 and get them out when the 1/16 is too small to run outside.
This winter I'm going to go through them completely, relocating the batteries, bushings in the road wheels and bullet-proof the sprockets and gearbox.
