Default skink

well gotsome work done on the skink as some parts have come in here are the results

the new hull had to have the inside shaved back 1/16 of an inch all the way around to fit the sherman hull corectly if you done trim it the hull rided on top of the aluminum hull and I wanted it to sit corectly over the hull

I reshaped the fenders and attached them to the hull and when you place the upper hull on every thing lines up perfect

you also need to trimm the lower hull at the rear flaps 1/8 of an inch so the upper hull will sit over the rear flaps

Nice...really something different and very unique. Dig the tranny case. Going to put LEDS in the 50's? Now we need a canal light tank with it.

Yeah, I can't wait to see her in action! I built that model years ago and here's a website to see what it looks like!

After seeing this, I gotta build me Flakpanzer now too!

Panther Thanks for the "Link to the Skink" ...Very Informative !! I'd just like to add something re an incident mentioned in the article. One of our "Former" Prime Ministers said you could do anything you wanted to a Canadian, as long "as you didn't make him MAD" . Guess someone forgot to tell the German Sniper that fact ...as well as that PM (That's why he's a "Former" ).

Bubba thanks for bulding that Skink. I didn't even know we HAD such a critter but I wuldn't want to be on the wrong end of one. Beautiful job.....!!

I did love firing my Oerlikons, though... A good gunner could practically "thread a needle" with one!

Inspiration is always a key driving point in building these tanks. You have selected 2 very outstanding choices! I know you will continue to allow us to see the progress on them.

Great topic for a conversion. Can you give me a few pointers on the "bolt nose" transmission cover and gearbox setup? I was looking at you sexton page and what I gleamed is you used a pershing final drive setup? Was that the tamiya final drive?

the drive is made of tamtoy and tamiya pershing out drives this can only be done using tamtoy gear boxes as the are the only dirve with the needed offset to mount the outdrives to

I see the concept, did you have to do any mods to the gearboxes themselves? The outdrives look fixed in position.

the original out put shafts are tuned doown to equal size IE the large end turned to 5 mm the the shaft is reversed in the housing the the outside end flatened on each side to except the pershing driven gear the the gear cases float on the gearbox with 2 tierods conecting the 2 together right and left the an ancore plate made of brass is attached to the lowwer rod the bolted to the tamtoy gearboxes this make every thing one piece and stablizes the outdrives and keeps them perfectly allined

Hmmm...

Now you got me thinking this route might be easier than the T34 metal gears + TamToy heavy duty boxes + DT gearbox mods.

What it cost ya for the Pershing outdrive components? I'd be balancing it against the T34 gears and DT mods...

bubbajoexx , your hatch and hinge work is second too none. How do you make the hinges. The commanders cupola on the Jagdpanther is not correct but I reatatched it anyway, but i would really like to duplicate the hatch you made for the loader. PM me if it is top secret LOL and give me some pointers on making a proper hatch. The more i look at this Jagd the moer i really fall in love with it. It has become my sons favorite tank in our small collectio, Thats why i would like to get the jagdTiger for him. like i siad he insists on the airsoft units working. My self am leaning more and more towards IR set ups.
