I am about to upgrade to the RX-18 board in my HL Tiger 1, but I can't see where to put the 4 wires that goes from the old rx-13 board to the proportional smoke unit? There are 4 wires marked with a questionmark on the picture under..
It seems like the new RX-18 board only has a 2-pin connector to use with the smoke unit?

if you look closely there are 4 wires that come from the smoke unit that connect to the motor output joints on the RX13 board, this is the proportional smoke unit, the other two wires from the smoke unit go onto the 2 pin socket on the RX13 board underneath. I haven't got the RX18 board but it looks to me that you just plug in the smoke unit where it says on the diagram, the other 4 wires just De-solder from the RX13 board and connect to either side of the motors, make sure you get the wires right, same two from the RX13 board to the same motor and the same with the other two wires from the RX13 board.
When i replaced the RX13 board with another, i connected the proportional smoker wires to the motors direct, same thing really.

Thank you for your reply.
Some more questions:
1. I don't think the wires are long enough to reach the motors, how have you done it? Do you have a picture? Is it possible to connect them into the motor power sockets together with the wires to the motor?
2. If I don't connect the 4 wires after upgrading to the RX-18 board, will the smoke unit still work (but not proportional of course)?

hi there
1. either lengthen the wires, make sure you use some heat shrink on the joins, or replace with longer wires, just make sure you follow what you do.
2. If you don't connect i think it will just tick over, you wont get a lot of smoke, the non-prop smoker runs flat out and give max smoke all the time, but they are really noisy.
My smoker stopped working after about 3 weeks, tried to repair it but no joy, so when the RX13 went up in smoke i replaced it with a RX14 (fitted onto where the smoker was mounted) but fitted heat sinks to the mosfets and ran a CPU fan behind (attached to the back of the battery box) them to cool them and used the smoker plug on the RX14 board to power the fan, the fan starts after the start up sequence has finished, that way it don't sap power straight away from the battery.
