So while i was brainstorming about how to power the Renault i noticed something interesting, the Drive sprocket is in the rear of the Tank and the front wheel is a smooth idler wheel, dont know if anyone else noticed this or not but i thought i would share seeing as it seemed strange to me,

This afternoon I decided to draw out a front profile of the Renault at 1/6th scale to get a better idea on the size of the tank, Its Huge lol...heres some pics, Im thinking of taking a three way view to a print shop and have them blow it up to the dimmensions i need to use as "blue prints", Judging by the drawing the turret will be 4.5in tall and 7 in round at its base, so i will have pleanty of room to install a airsoft gun and elevation unit in the tank, i am planing on ordering materials after the 1st and begin work, however like my last post said im still looking for a place to get Drive Sprockets and the Turret rings? anyone have any ideas?

Dont know if this will help but rctank.de sells HL upper hulls with electronics and bb gun for 30 euro inc. VAT. Love the little french bugger, will definately keep an eye on your project.
Good luck!

Hey Leggeron,
Thanks for the info, Does anyone know what electronics are included? Im assuming it is the Elevation, Gun, and rotation electronics....if so i think i might just have to order a HL tiger to strip appart and then offer the hull for sale, seems that is going to be the cheapest easiest route to go

The FT-17/18 was a heavy modification of an industrial tractor. All tractors have the drive sprocket in the rear. If you look closely you can see many similarities in the Renault and a Caterpillar tractor.
If you are doing 6th scale, have you thought of how you will do the tracks?

So far for the tracks i was planing on going with are HL tiger tracks they are very close to the width they need to be and will look ok scale wise, I know they look nothin like the original however i am not very sure what I could do to make ones that look like the original ( and thats not going to cost a arm and leg), Any coments will be greatly appreciated, Ill be ordering a Tiger from RCCommand and striping out every thing i will need for the model after the 1st, and will start the build soon after,

A A7V would be very interesting to see, I know Herrmill is looking at building a Brittish Mark IV, so maybe by the end of the year there will be 3 new RC WW1 AFV's

At 6th scale you may want to look at bicycle chain and sprocket for the track movement. This option would be very strong, cheap and assured tracking.
Adding the pads may involve spot welding plates to the chain or perhaps a bolted solution could be fashioned. At least the width of track could be anything you wish.

Hey Heavyasled,
I had came across that meathod on another RC tank website, I think for now I will go with the HL tiger tracks adn sprockets, They will look right at the scale for this particular tank seeing as it was so small,I think after I get it built and working then i will probaly change the track and drive sprocket expecialy if it ends up being under powered,
Cheer's

Well today i went down to the local print shop and got a side profile blown up to 1/6th scale to use as blueprints as said before it is 32 in long and almost 15 in tall... Heres a pic to get a idea of the size,(cant seem to get more than one pic on this post) the front idler wheel is bigger than the palm of my hand and i have big hands!
work will begin here in a week or so once the parts arrive,
