hi timslocum, i wouldn`t cut the antenna as this will affect the way the tank will work over long and some times short distanceis. it`s all down to the radio frequincys and the way thay are calibrated. i would get the deans anntenna then you should be ok.

Get rid of the antenna and put it inside. Pzrwest had a thread about putting one inside, so you don't have yet another wire going up to the upper hull.

Or you could do this. Whatever you do, try to keep the length of the wire/antenna the same length. The P3 antenna will fold down automatically, and can be used as a functional antenna or cosmetic. Coiling the antenna lead around the plastic tube does not affect the range at all. Just keep the coils seperate. The photo is of the system installed just for fitting in my article about eletrical hygene. On the P3 innards photo, I just notched the rear extensions and put the wire there. He will be changed on my next P3 to make the prototypical antenna functional.

Nice internals. I am that way myself. A rat's nest of wires looks so unprofessional. Zip straps and wire routing, look so much better. Good job.

Thanks, Think I'm gonna put my article here also. It uses a Tam Sherman getting a full overhaul, but the applications are the same no matter what tank you use.

Barkingsquirrel, yes,but I prefer a differnet model of their antenna. I've actually used Deans antenna's before, but my source is gone and I couldnt find any on Ebay with reasonable shipping. Thanks for the link AFV, but look at the shipping! $45 for shipping a $10 antenna thats small enough to fit in an envelope? RIDICULOUS. I was charged 2.50 Euro for shipping my LED machine gun from England. I've wrapped my antennas around inside my RC ships for years, but I wasnt sure with these tanks if I could get away with that. Thanks for the replies.

Like wise, I have shortened the antenna to approximate correct length on several of mine with no discernable adverse affect on control, but mine rarely get more than 50 ft away. I have to agree with Panther F on keeping the antenna inside. On suggestion, I have done this with 4 of mine, keeping away from the motors and it eliminates the eye injury possibility. I like the idea of coiling around a plastic tube. Only external antenna on those is a a soft, very flexible one to fit the model.
