Mizuinu:
If its a PCM unit, no dice. If its straight FM, you're ok. You can tell if the Rx is FM or PCM by the trailing suffix... like the FP-R127-DF is FM, the FP-R127-DP is PCM.
Some Transmitters are switchable, just be sure if it is, that you get supplied with an FM Rx.
Now the 2.4 units are another matter.

Ah, synth radio.
You are beyond my depth of knowledge, but I ~think~ they ran the DMD/MF units in the full-function Tamiya's just fine.
And yes, Rx - Receiver, Tx = Transitter, Xtal = Frequency Crystal.
Guys, any help for the lad here?

The 7c comes in FM or PCM and can be tailored for airplane, helicopter, or surface use the extra channels wont be used but you already have it.

RE: 7channel radio on tamiya?
Wait a sec bowlman...
There are TWO types of 7C, and one is a 2.4 GHz unit. Judging by that Futaba link (which I shoulda had the sense to look up cause I'm a Futaba man myself) the ~regular~ 7C radio is NOT a 2.4GHz unit, and not compatible with that receiver. The only Rx on the list that would work is the R127DF, as the others are 138DP and 168DP, both PCM units.
Now the 7C 2.4 GHz FASST is shown here... http://2.4gigahertz.com/systems/futk7000.html
Again, anyone using a 2.4GHz Futaba w/ the new FASST able to speak on this?

RE: 7channel radio on tamiya?
Nope.
As no-one has said it WONT work, I'd suggest you check out the comments on synth radios on the Armorhut. Guys are using the Spectrum one, and its synth, so there should be no reason it wouldn't work... unless the FASST is too much like PCM.
And for the reasons why PCM does not work, who knows. Thats all I know from reading blips on Armorhut. Guys tried the PCM ones, and they weren't compatible for some reason. Mebbe scan the archives there.

RE: 7channel radio on tamiya?
I run my Tamiya KT with a Spectrum DX6i and a T-34 with a DX5e the DX6i can preset 10 diffrent tanks the DX5e will only do 1 tank you can get the DX6i for around $159.00 with out a Rx and the DX5e for around $59.00 with out Rx im using the Spectrum br6000 bot Rx in my tanks and it cost $49.00 not bad prices .ok change in prices here but not bad at all .Also the DX6i you can have the ratchet replaced with a self centering kit they wont do this on the DX5e but you can rig it .
