Jimmy, Ifound them to be pretty slippery. Got a set years ago with an old Sherm kit, tracks were not assembled. Assembled them, used them once, and they are now in the "spares" box forever.

Heck, I'm still using them on my own 1974 Sherman....aside from having the odd track keeper come off now and then I find they work just fine. I've run them through everything you can think of....water, mud, snow, gravel, sand......!

RE: Old 1974 Sherman Metal Tracks
bowlman & all:
The ones you got with the originalsherman (and the 56005 I think) are the same ones that got supplied with the Leopard and Gepard as well, and some love 'em, some hate 'em. Me, I hate 'em because of those cast end-link clips. They were forever coming off, and not even CA eould keep 'em there. I gave up, and it was one reason I sold my first Leopard to a guy in HK (and bought it back a few years ago)
The other downside was traction: the old one had a stamped-in cleat, which looked like a VERY worn T80 cleat (chevron) where the new one is very defined. I think some of the Danville guys have worn new tracks down until they looked like the old ones...
And to answer the obvious question, no, you cannot use new Sherman tracks on the Leopard & Gepard, but you CAN use Pershing ones. Its not because the Sherman ones are too short (Pershing's are too) but because the guide-horns are too ~wide~. You have to use Pershing ones (all the same parts except a narrow guide horn) and add about 10 links. I've 'converted' both my Leopard's to new tracks, and they look perfectly like Canadian-use ones these days (Yea, I checked)
Sometimes you can get the old type for a song, sometimes a bidder will make ya pay almost as much as a cast set from Kenny Kong or Impact. It all comes down to your own opinion, and what you'd pay for a replacement set (Tamiya new or aftermarket cast)
