I just wanted to pass this along in case anyone is looking to add a laser to your tank to help aim your airsoft, or I guess IR too. I've bought three from this guy over the past year, and the larger one worked great in my HL Tiger. Recently my nephew asked me to put one in his Bulldog and the mantlet didn't look like it had enough room inside to move freely with the laser installed, so I picked up one of the smaller units... wow - the picture in his auction didn't really do it justice. This thing is small and would probably fit well into a 1/24 scale tank very easily. Should go into the Bulldog with no problems! Both operate at 3v [2.5 - 3.3v], so swapping it out with the HL machine gun LED provides sufficient power, and gives a nice effect of a pulsing laser when you push the machine gun fire button with no other modifications needed. Works great!

I striped it down and put the laser in the turret of my Tiger I

I took out the machine gun LED and wired up the laser it works great

nice.. that small laser is just like the size of the turret's machine gun bulb.. and will surely fit the machine gun hole in the mantlet.. hehehehe

well you will need to use a drill bit and a spot of glue, then it just slots right in.

solder it to the LED wires and a laser in your turret you shall have.

Great idea. There isn't any chance that the circuitry that drives the led you are swapping out for the laser diode will be overloaded? I'd hate to damage the circuit.

No Tim,, I've been using mine for over a year and no problems. The HL circuitry reduces the current going to the machine gun LED from 7.2v down to 2.4v per this diagram, so if you swap out the machine gun LED there is no more that needs to be done. These laser modules are rated at 3v and the seller states that they will function well with 2.5v to 3.3v. The 2.4v from the machine gun function of the HL tanks works fine...

Ern's right it only runs off two AAA batteries the small long thin ones.

you just solder it to the LED wires wave some smoke about fire your machine gun through the smoke and it looks like tracer fire.

Dollarama has laser levels, each containing two lasers, for $2.00 each.

Put the small one in the Bulldog tonight. It fit great in the mantlet so that it can move up and down with the barrel. Remember if you are going to put one in that this will just get you in the area. These guns aren't accurate enough to bother spending the time to try to boresight them at a certain range

I was going to mount it flush, but thought that since it is for a 10 year old and not going for historical accuracy I would leave it out a bit to look like a gun barrel.

These are great. I picked up 2 (each with 2 lasers (0.5mm diameter) They are not as sharp as the high end lasers but are great at closer ranges (under 30 feet) I just put one in my Stug III (where the IR light was) that I am in the process of converting to airsoft. I will get some pics and videos posted soon. I'm quite excited because this tank's gun was upgraded and shoots over 250fps (my strongest to date) The bb should have a pretty flat trajectory for at least 30 feet so this is where I'm going to set the aim for the laser.

Ern, glad to see that it works well and the size looks perfect. However, the laser is where the gunner's sight was. The other side of the gun tube where the LED is right now is where the coax gun should be, assuming you're using the laser to double as a coax gun simulation.

I stand correct. These little lasers are great. A little twist of the lense and they are as sharp as any hight end laser. Not bad for $1 each. Makes it affordable to do all my tanks.

all you do is take two turret rings and tie them together flat side to flat side with the two lugs offset to each other

carefully grind the two lugs out making sure you don't damage the teeth on the other turret ring.

and when you put them back in the tank you have a 360 turning turret.

I just temporarily mounted one beneath the barrel, close to the breach end on a small standoff so the beam clears the muzzle brake. Hardly noticeable. Its magnificently accurate. After I sighted it in, I can hit an inch or less from across the room. Deadly. At close range, like 4', it hits the red dot every shot or within 1/4".

That little gun is powerful. It almost puts holes through the cardboad target. If I'd known that first, I wouldn't have let it hit me. Really smacks hard on bare skin. Not a kids toy. I must have got a good cannon on this Pershing.

If you are using the machine gun led wiring as a power source, be aware that it already has a resistor inline to limit current to the led. If your laser doesn't light up full power, examine the laser. On the dollarama level scrounged laser, the white wire needs to be moved over to the other side of a surface mount resistor to gain full power.
