Default Sherman Road Test

I now have a Tamiya Sherman. She is an experienced Sherman and has been outfitted and weathered and is a beautiful sight for me to just look at. However after resolving a radio issue and making a list of things I want to do to the inside. I decided it was time for a road test. I chose a wooded area close to daughter's school. a nice trail with a little mud here and there and great hills.
I was cresting a great hill and watching the suspension move and listening to the gear and motor sound.when I heard the sound of feet in shoes headed my way. In spite of fireing the gun as often as i could I did not damage to the running shoes of the schools track team. Most of them were good jumpers and cleared the tank and me. The rest swerved in time to avoid me and the Sherman in the middle of the trail.
Sherman did well in the woods runs great and the track team are very fast on their feet.
Be well
David

Hi David,

I also have a Sherman from Tamiya, that is still to be taken outside. I am curious if you have the stock plastic belts or the metal ones.

cheers
Steen

Hello Steenv, I have the metal tracks. I am not sure who made them. THe road wheels appear to be stock. I do not know uch about upgrades but it seems to be fine as it is. May do the added sound . creeping death? I will talk to Phil at tankwars about that.I am still learning about the tank.Pretty heavy girl too. Not new but has the dual motors and a fan cooled interior. It works great outside. Grass is no problem so far. Hope you have fun with yours outside. I am going to avoid deep rivers thaough.
BE well,
David

Steen, I used the stock Tamiya tracks until recently on my Sherman, and in 6 years never had a moments problem with them. Used to go to the competitons in Danville often, and he went every time. After 5 years of such treatment, I did have to finally replace the tracks, as they were just worn out, so I went with metal tracks.

The tracks are Impact single pin (initial issue). The M-4A1E8 was built up on an older Sherman Chassis and has all new gears, motors and electonics. Phil installed a DBU system.

Almost Almost there with the flashing gun.

I found that they make pellets for use in muzzleloading rifles. It works, however before I let anything out I need to do some intense safety teasting. My worry is the aluminum and the gunpowder might not work for very long and should it decide to fail while shooting it could send bits of barrel into soemone. Gun buddy of mine has what might be the trick.

We'll see how it goes. All good come to those who wait.

Don

Thanks for input on metal tracks- Another question - are the original return rollers "heavy duty" enough to handle metal belts, or do I need to change them to a metal version also if I go for the metal belts.

thanks
Steen

Stock ones should hold up well for a long time. Mine have.
