hi,
i was just testing my second metal hull early tiger I and just finished the metal upgrade.. when i was running it here in my living room the "sound" sddenly stopped.. but the tank still running, only the sound just stopped.. so when i switch it off and was trying to start up the engine sound again.. nothing happened and the head light is just steady (not blinking while in stand by mode)
then when i pressed the start on the control just a few seconds the tank started to move just like the regular HL tank (nonsmoking and sound) and it wouldnt switch off whe i pressed the off switch on the controller..
i took everything apart/disconnected all the wires then recconnected it.. and switched it back on. i dont see any blinking light on the headlight but i could hear a crackling sound in the speaker.. very very low crackling sound.. but the tank wouldnt start and theres no blinking head light... i dont see any smoke or burns on the board..
just want to know if the problem is the rx-18 board or something else? just want your opinion before i would get a replacement board..
thanks

Maybe your speaker jack is loose. That could be part of the problem. It sounds like it was functioning fine, just no sound. You say there is no blinking light now. Make sure you got the jacks plugged in right.

yup the sound stop... then when i switched off the main power and switched back in the light didnt blink but it was permanently on. then when i pressed the start up on the controller and pressed the forward stick the tank moved right away.. but the normal one should take few seconds before it can move.. then disconnected all wires and reconnected it back then the worst happned.. lights gone.. tank wont move.. like its dead... rechecked all connections.. but still the same..
am thinking its the rx-18 board... but not quite sure whats the problem... or the rx-18 just gave up?
thanks

Yes I think you may have a terminal case of ESCcrappedoutitis.. Good thing they are only 25 bucks to replace. I went to price out Tamiya electronics, because they are so much better but they were $425. ( I was thinking of getting a set for my Mato Sherman, but Ouch), makes that $25 RX18 not seem so bad. Sounds like you need to do a change out.

YHR I know an Ebay dealer who has the DMD and MF units for 116.00 and 114.00 dollars. I dont know where your pricing your Tamiya stuff but thats got to be Tamiya retail price. If you want the addy for my source let me know.

The MAto Sherman has new sounds, but I only heard them on a video I saw. Once I hear them for real I will decide what I want to do.

ty guys... got my tank moving again.. ordered some parts from bill.. got the new RX-18.. the sound is kinda weird.. idle sound is better than the 1st rx-18.. but the new acceleration sound is kinda off the scale.. not too realistic.. hehehehe even your tan is moving slowly the sound stays the same.. samething with ur tan is n full speed.. hehehe.. but the cannon and machine gun is much better than the old one.. but the jerking recoil is a lil bit worst.. hehehehehe.. also got the smallest fan.. and installed to my new rx 18 board.. that should keep it from heating up.. hope the smallest fan with do..
