1sgt,
Okay, Top, let's get it straight: It ain't ex-Marine nor is it Former Marine. It is MARINE, period! I may have come off active duty in '72 but my oath still holds.
I'm s-s-s-s-s-s-sixty years old chronologically but as long as I can avoid a mirror I can dupe myself into believing I'm still in my thirties. I served four years in the crotch along with a tour of Southeast Asia courtesy of our formerly rich Uncle Sam from '70 to '71 and I'll take an M-14 over a Matty Mattel any day!
I just got my first tank, a Heng Long Pz III, a month ago and I have plans to improve it just a tad. I'm also hoping to locate a club near the Greenville, SC, area and get with some chaps for fun, aka: simulated combat and, hopefully, beer.
BIG MIG,
I spent a couple of weeks at Cubi Point NAS on TAD back in 1970 and have some very fond memories of Olongapo. Oh, the girls!!! And partying with the guys on liberty from the USS America is a memory I'll have for the rest of my life. Those were wonderful times!

Hello rrudytoo,
Lots and lots of guys have very fond memories of Olongapo.
I went back on vacation in 2004..and..2006 and it was very fun to be there as a civilian. When I went in 2004 it had been 42 years from my last trip there aboard ship.It is more special to me than to most as I met and married my wife while stationed there and it was also a trip to re-visit here side of the family.Got married when I was 18 years old and she was 19,and we have been married now for 48 years...........

Best and smartest thing I ever did in my life...............

You know I really would not want to do it again..................But I would not trade it for anything..........

I think most guys would say the same,I'll bet....................

For me 17 to 21 years old and got to see a lot of this world we live in...................

53 here, and just so that you know, at the UK tank battles we have an age range of 15-60+. The age doesn't make a difference, the younger ones appreciate the experience of the 'more mature' members, and the older ones enjoy the impetuous rantings of the youthful ones (we were all that age once!).
It's a great hobby, and compared to many that I have had, it offers the best smile/satisfaction per buck that I have known.
