Question on Tamiya Speaker Boxes

Hi Guys,

Quick Question -

Is there a problem if I mount the Tamiya speaker without its huge box? I would think there may be some sound loss, but is there anything else that I should be worried about?

As usual thanks for your comments..:)

The Box is everything.

I've thought of doing the same thing, it would sure open up some room.

You can cut down the box and enclose it again with some styrene. But you need an enclosure for best sound performance.

Larry,
I built my own speaker boxes to make room for a smoker in my Tiger 1 build.
Here was the result Tiger in action smoking.
While the amount of smoke was a bit over the top, I can control it remotely and activate it after the tank has been knocked out to represent damage.

Mounting them without an enclosure is fine and you can actually test it out FIRST to hear the "bottom end" loss that will occur too before installing it. The tank itself will add some of that for you but won't be sealed so don't expect the same sound.

Hi Steve,

very interesting - I was thinking of doing something similar.

Thanks for the tips...
